i only use my ps3 to watch movies from my pc and watch some iplayer every now and then. almost every game i want to play is on the pc bar rock band ...

Go and read what he asked and then read what I said, you'll see how irrelevant your reply was.

For the record I think there are console games that aren't bettered by anything on PC and PC games that aren't bettered by anything on console. They both offer different things and are both equally great. If you can't see this then you are a fanboy.

nope pc gaming is vastly superior and that is a fact. better exclusives, better hardware, online communities, mods etc. are facts not opinions. anything a console can do a gaming pc can do it better. its simple as that.

yes and like i said anything a console can do a gaming pc can do it better. there is nothing equal about that.

Depends if you find installing games a chore. The console wins the usability hands down.

Yeah nothing beats a console when you're desperate to play a new game you got. Throw in a disc vs an hour downloading from Steam and installing. Can even go to the shop and buy it faster.

ahh the weekly pc vs console debate. I have ps3 xbox and pc. If a game is multi format there is only one winner and thats the pc, Much much better visuals and performance. For online there are dedicated servers and the games are usually £10 cheaper at launch and about half the price after a month or so. I can play around with the settings also if i please and have multi monitor set ups.Another bonus is steam sales :D. The reason i like my console is I can play gamers with my girlfriend or mates having a few drinks, now i know people will point this out that it can also be done with pc but feels more natural doing this on the xbox or ps3 for some reason and easier with fifa, pro evo for 4 player games all sitting together. Also due the the cost of consoles (due to ageing hardware) its probably more accessable. Id say though if you consider yourself a serious gamer you should have a gaming pc

eh no, I can download a 7.5gb game in around 30 mins. also I can pre install pre release games. Like has been said the ps3 requires installation for games sometimes. also it doesnt take long to install anyway

I'll remember that next time i'm playing Demon's Souls on the PC. Can't wait for the PC releases of Last Guardian and Skyward Sword too ;)

Likewise, i will remember the above next time i play Arma 2 and Rfactor 2 on a console with mods :D

Serious dude what is your point mate?

Both platforms have its share of exclusives. No if's or buts about that. People here are discussing what each platform can and cannot do.

The consoles are easier to setup and play, no arguing there. But the PC's offer higher quality of gaming on most occasions. Graphics, user inputs, mods, dedicated servers, etc etc.

For me, my ps3 hasnt been turned on since feburary of this year and my xbox 360 aint been touched for over a year!!

360 offers less exclusives then a ps3, thats why my ps3 gets a lot more use then a 360.

It was different back in the day around the time of Megadrive/SNES.

At that time I personally had a medium power PC a Megadrive and brother had a SNES. Like now the PC rocked at Strategy games and also flight sims and 'space games' (privateer the darkening one of my favourite games ever), but then there were some games i would never buy on a PC: high action games esp racing games where unless u had a week old PC it was hard to get good FPS and beat them ups because they worked better on a pad with your mate sat next to you.

Now those 2 issues are largely removed. Dirt 2 on the system as below looks so much better visually than the consoles and runs at much a much higher fps. Also now the xbox pad has become almost standardised on the PC I find myself playing games i would only ever have played on a console, recently playing through the prince of persia games for example.

However consoles definitely have their merits, the obvisous one is they cost a fraction of the cost of a good PC, they are more social for when mates come around, i dunno think FIFA or Wii Sports, both great fun when the lads are around. Also while the majority of games work fine on PC some still don't and need a level of savvy to sort out, editing ini files to make Fallout3 work on a quad core, changing 2 lines in Mass effect to stop the pixelation effect and GTAIV is a pain in the ass to get running nice. While I can fix this a lot of people wouldnt have a clue and would stick to consoles as the games are tailored to 1 specific set of hardware. Console do have some exclusives I wish I had access to, RDR, uncharted, gods of war 3.

So much typing to say they both have strengths and weaknesses its down to personal preference. PC for me all the way, however if i won the lottery I'd go straight out and buy an xbox and PS3... then I would probably spend the rest in a year in Amsterdam.

GTA IV is not a pain in the as to get running nice. It is however a demanding game, with the option to take the graphics well beyond the consoles. If you run it at console specs it will be super smooth on any decent PC. Also I have heard that there are some performace issues for GTA IV on Xbox and PS3.

yeah the pc goes far beyond the low res low spec xbox and ps3 versions, honestly people on here claiming console can match pc for a gaming experience are talking nonsense. pc has the potential far beyond these old current consoles

I am not saying GTAIV does not look better on PC, just that I found it a pain to get it to run at a good FPS and get the most graphically out of my poor 1GB of Vram. On console I would just press Start and accept what the game gave me. Yes I would rather have the PC options so that I could eek the most out of it but a lot of people would hate to have to spend an hour of trial error to do that. GTAIV in hindsight was the wekest example of the 3 I gave.

just tone down the res and lower the settings, to really low. how hard can it be? thats what the consoles are anyway

He shouldn't have to turn it down that low. I'm runnin the same card around medium settings and it runs smooth. The game is cpu hungry - overclocking his i5 would probably boost performance significantly.
