Only seen this in the daily fail, so take with a pinch of salt for now..
As for the guy - he's not the best keeper, but he's a personality thats for sure, a bit of a wild thing.. should be fun to have around the dressing room.

Supposedly it was mentioned on Sky Sports Italia and a few other places are running with it too. Sounds like a Grobbelaar type then :D

Phil Jones.

Jones is apparently at "advanced stages of negotiation" at least 4 clubs. Apparently he's also stated he wants to leave. I'm taking everything with a pinch of salt at present, like most summer transfers that don't go through this seems to be heavily media driven.

If he does go it'll be disappointing. A lifelong fan of the team yet he can't wait to get out the door. Methinks it's management forcing his hand in a similar fashion to the way that Dunn was driven out of the club under Souness. The thing is, if we sell out best youngster I can see a majority of the promising/decent players wanting to follow him out the door.

But why would your owners force him out the door? i mean .. they were going to buy Kaka at one stage! :D :p

I'm happy with seeing Young at united. Now to sign Snjieder.

I kinda see Young almost playing in Chico's role but from midfield. He has the speed and kinda plays the same as Chico. Wonder what role he will play.

What, Young plays exactly nothing at all like Chico, nothing, its not even comparable. Chico, stands offside and hopes to get a pass in behind and called onside(yes bit more to it but thats most of this game). Young, fantastic freekicks, corners, fantastic crossing, runs with the ball, "does" players, great throughball, great passing, bags of pace, stronger than his frame would suggest. Creative, defensive, workrate, good finishing, he's really good at every part of the game, in no way does he just sit on the back line trying to get in behind.

Still not quite sure what we'll do with Young, in the big matches he won't play because Fergie sets up to play defensively with defensive wingers like Valencia and Park playing. I can't see him playing 2 wingers and 2 strikers much either.

Young is very defensive when required, he's one of the hardest working wingers in the league and consistantly gets back down the wing to make tackles, which he's also good at. Considering Valencia defensively was probably your single worst player against Barcelona, and Park did pretty much smeg all defensively all match aswell I wouldn't count on them being named in a "defensive" lineup.

Running back a bit and running back a bit and actually having the ability to tackle and know where to be, how to mark well and how to be effective are very different things.

Suppose we've got to raise funds somehow!

I'll be fuming if the 16mil release clause rumour is true. Our brightest young talent and we add that in to a contract for him. Ridiculous. I can't help but feel that in a season or two we will be in deep trouble. Our willingness to let young prospects go, coupled with our attitude of rewarding average players with long term deals is really concerning. Add to that the fact we are constantly being linked with has beens and players seeking one final pay packet. I can't see a bight future for my club.

We play more than enough games in a season to keep all of our current wingers + young happy.

I can see that Liverpool's mooted signings would be to build for the future but it's a bit odd in that they'd do precisely bugger all for the now (bar Downing possibly) and if they don't get in the Champions league soon then it's possible that these players will move on as they develop.

Shinji Kagawa (who oddly enough I mentioned a couple of pages ago) has said he'd be interested in moving to United. He looked absolutely excellent for Dortmund earlier this season (in what was possibly the most exciting young midfield in Europe) but he was injured and missed the second half of it so I doubt United would take the risk on him at the moment on the back of 20 games.

I dont think Crouches performances for Spurs were all his fault necessarily this year.
Last season (or rather, the season before last? not this one has finished :p) he was playing well because Defoe was playing well, with Defoe in the side his movement creates space for Crouch to play in and he's pretty good with his feat.

Same at LFC when he was with us, he started playing better when allowed to play a bit deeper and move around the space created by Bellamy, Kuyt, Gerrard..

This year however, due to Defoe's form and VDV's positive form, he found himself playing target man which , being honest, he's crap at.

Nasri according to the Guardian is stalling signing a new deal because he wants to see improvements to the side.

Who could blame him? He's not the best player by far at the club but he's one of the better guys, and a first teamer. He plays with the likes of the 5 or 6 players who fans unanimously agree are sub par, and cost us a lot. He can't really get a wage rise because the average for below average players is high. Though if that's all we can afford I'm not sure if he'll get the rise if it'll cost to get new blood in.

It's a an alright notion. Though I suspect it's just a way of holding the club to ransom.

Wait and see ;)

I'm ok with building for the future, its gelling young players into a united team that have done so well for Utd and Arsenal. We can get into the champions league with young players, we cant challenge for the title maybe with young players but I'm in no rush for the title anyway, would much rather a legacy is built that stands time than a title is won quickly.

Fixed for you ;)

I was getting used to the idea of Fab leaving this summer but I wouldn't like Fab and Nasri to leave. Nasri can step into Fabs boots. Not as good but still a good replacement from our ranks. I think he plays so much better in that position too. Nasri's best performances were when Fab was out injured.

I just hope we don't see all the good players leave and we are stuck with the ones that let us down week in week out.

Not a promising start to the summer. :(

No, from his point of view I suppose he wants to let clubs know he's up for a transfer.

But that's a real dagger into the club that's significantly raised his stock for the last couple of years. It's made us a lot less attractive to those we want to buy to ironically satisfy the whole sale investments he himself wants to see.

He's a dolt and given us a bad image. Denilson can do it and get away with it because we all know better, but he shouldn't.

according to Evertons facebook page, a deal for jay bothroyd is all but complete.

Im hoping this is true, we need another striker, him and beckord together "could" form a good lil partnership, relies on moyes to actually play 2 up front of course.

Crouch was only played for so many games this year because of how VDV was performing while playing off him.
