I'd take Samba, think someone like him is exactly what we need next to Verm. Don't really see goalkeeper as a must have now. Thought Szyxndngny did alright last season and think he could go on to be really good. Rather money was spent elsewhere.

Apparently you might be after Craig Gordon - http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/fo...tic-ponder-Sunderland-exile-Craig-Gordon.html

I think he'd be a decent buy, I've always rated him as a shot stopper and he seems decently consistent.

nah thats news was sooooo yesterday, i think (dont quote me on that) hes goin to celtic for a trial today, would have been a good signing for Arsenal tho, i think they should go for Vertonghen but hes gona be around 20 million Euros atleast and they have good keepers now anyway

Yeah Samba to Arsenal has been bubbling around for a while now which seems to be a decent indicator something will happen, would be a good signing IMO.

Maybe they should put in a bid for N'Zogbia to play DMC? :p

rich been playing FM recently? ;)

Can't say I rate Samba enough to play for Arsenal - he's probs better than Kos / Djor but not good enough to play at the level you're aspiring to.

He certainly stopped us when we played against them. Haven't seen enough of him to make a judgement but I would certainly take a gamble. Premier league experience too. Would help settle in quickly instead of buying for the future with a foreign player.

plus hes only just turned 26 so 6-7 years, hes brilliant, i reckon he will get better with age too, hes just so good.

HOW IS ANDERSON NOT PROVEN?

maybe its more accurate to say Anderson is proven to be inconsistant :D

(he has played excellently on a number of occasions and yet the next few games on each occasion after a very decent performance are usually forgettable)

He is young-ish, but given his personal issues in the last season or two I would suggest SAF might get shot of him IF one more major thing happens external to the club. I know he recently signed a new ext until the end of 2015, and had a good run at the end of the season but he needs to keep that run going next season and try and cement a (more) regular starting position imo

no im pretty sure Alan Smith played in that Lille game Tom, and that was around the time smith started playing awesome and Ferguson went out of his way to get Smith a Premier League winners medal that season even tho he hadnt played enough games to qualify for one, why are you so quick to dismiss players just because they dont play or no longer play for manchester united

Smith came on for Larsson who scored the only goal in a 1-0 win

As for me dismissing previous United players you're basing that on what? The fact that I didn't rate Smith and Larsson? You do know there's plenty of other ex United players out there dont you?

when did i say he was LOVED at man utd, dont put words in my mouth.

oh be quiet mate, Man utd fans loved henrik larrson

:o

AND did u **** think he was past it and made little impact when he left, i remember you all wanted him back, forget you, YOUR MANAGER wanted him to stay so thats your club who wanted him and saw he made the impact and they begged him to stay but he made a promise, so shut it you dont know anything even about your own club it seems.

Begged is a bit strong, we probably did ask him to stay a bit longer but that doesn't change my opinion on him and his impact at United. He came in and did a job in hindsight he wasn't brilliant and he didn't have a great goal return. As amazing as it might sound I'm not a Man Utd player so I dont know what impact he had in the dressing room but on the pitch he wasn't that great. I should know I'm a Man Utd supporter ;)

i think i know more about Albrighton than you as i am a villa fan and saw all our games last season

How unfortunate for you ;)

It's worth remembering that at the age of 33+ he was still able to play for two of the biggest clubs in the World and not look out of place - you can argue that he wasn't the best player in the World, you can even argue that he wasn't the best player at the club(s) during his time there but I don't think you should downplay too much the level of talent he had, nor ignore that by all accounts he was highly thought of by those he played with.

For my money Larsson is the greatest player ever to play in the SPL and probably one of the greatest to play in Scotland at any point. I have sometimes wondered what he could have achieved if he'd left Celtic in his prime but he chose not to and that sort of loyalty is rare in football and to be respected.

This is the problem I'm not downplaying him at his prime, nor how well liked he is within the game. It was whathisname that decided Larsson was a suitable comparison to why Arteta was at Everton and has never attracted the 'bigger clubs'.

Maybe me saying Larsson never excelled at Barca or Utd was a little blunt, I still maintain though he was a bit part at Barca (due to his age, not to mention they had the front 3 of Guily, Ronaldinho and Eto'o) and at United his performances weren't all that (again probably due to his age)

But as someone said in this thread it appears Larsson did ignore overtures from other bigger clubs than Celtic during his time there, Arteta on the other hand has never had the interest of one of Europes biggest clubs because had he he would have gone in a shot imo
