It looks like Nasri is going to be leaving either for a fee now (big fee if City are involved) or free at the end of the season, which is such stupid business and it looks like Cesc could well be on his way, how much longer is he going to stick round? Arsenal aren't winning anything and he's clearly pining for his home, friends and home club.

Clichy has left and no replacement has been bought in, Gibbs isn't good enough nor fit enough to replace a poor Clichy (which he has been poor for quite some time)

Last season showed that Arsenal needed to improve, needed that extra something to tip them over the edge at the end, they've done the opposite, they've sold players.

Wenger already has the full backing of the board. They're in favour of keeping Nasri in the hope of persuading him to pen a new contract.

I love how you know what Fabregas is thinking though... :p

If we get another CB we won't need a replacement for Clichy. Both Kos and Vermaelen are left footed.

So do Arsenal not want to win things? Do they just want to play nice tippy tappy football?

I've always thought football was about playing the beautiful game but winning things. Arsenal do play beautiful football but don't win things, United have a balance between good football and winning things and that ruthless streak.

Arsenal need to improve, they could end up dropping out of the top four. They've not improved, they're slowly going backwards and it will be a massive step backwards given that Cesc and Nasri are looking like leaving.

Liverpool have improved, Spurs still look good and given the spending power of City and Chelsea combined with United being United that's what? 6 sides going for four spots.

We can't all spend £80m on players like Utd have to compete. No one said we don't want to win anything. I genuinely think we can win everything at the beginning of the season. No different this season.

Yes we need strengthening but if it doesn't happen then there is nothing I can do whining on a forum about it.

People say city are trying to buy success but 80m odd isn't that much different.

Liverpool have spent about £60m plus recently but I still think we are going to finish ahead of them.

I don't particularly think Utd have improved much since ronaldo left. Some would say a lot weaker. We still beat Utd in the league when we played(and lost to them)I don't fear them anymore this season.

It just come across as him pining to be home, he spent all his spare time in Spain last season didn't he? He's spent this summer there?

His friends at Barca come out and say he wants to come play for us, maybe Cesc is afraid of losing the fans at Arsenal if he comes out and says he wants to leave.

I'm in no doubt Arsenal and the fans mean a lot to Cesc, but Barca who have been calling for a while now is going to be difficult to turn down again.

Arsenal need to strengthen to give players like Nasri a reason to stay.

Arsenal's problem has never been against the big clubs, it's the failure to kill of the "lesser" teams in the league that stop them doing anything. They came undone against Birmingham in the League Cup final last season and weren't good enough at the end of the season against weaker sides.

Arsenal's defence isn't good enough or their keeper, last season proved this without a shadow of a doubt, although having Verm back will be a big boost.

It's not about spending 60 odd million on average players like L'pool, it's about bringing improvements in for sensible money.

I don't believe that for 1 minute. If Nasri's as set on leaving as it seems, he'll leave this summer. No board will allow a manager to let a £20m player run his contract down and leave on a free if he's made it clear he wants out.

He spends his free time in Spain because that's where his family live. It's not even an hour on the plane of course he is going to go over there when he has spare time, he can see his London friends whenever he wants to. I'm under no illusions that Fabregas will spend his whole career with us, but as far as I'm aware whenever there is talk of Cesc wanting to play for Barcelona it is usually the big mouthed Barca players doing all the talking, Xavi being the most recent example. We don't need the money and he is still under contract until 2015 I believe. Barcelona can match our £40,000,000 valuation or they can go another summer without him and it's as simple as that.

Gervinho is also one of Nasri's good friends, which will have certainly played a part in his signing.

Clichy, Cesc and Nasri are how you're going backwards so far.

If we go by what people say in the papers or twitter then Rooney would have been a Madrid player now.

Nani is leaving isn't he? So Utd are going backwards. Lost their goalie and nani now. Berb is leaving to according to some reports. That's three important first team players gone.

Utd will be lucky to get a cl spot this season I suppose? :p

To be fair, I think the Arsenal board are a load of old French women that love Arsene.

It's the only explanation! :D

That and you couldn't afford the better player in Hazard :p

I won't claim to be an avid watcher of League 1 but as you clearly are knowledgable on the subject could you explain to me which areas Hazard excels at that Gervinho does not? :)

Hey if I was a French woman I would definitely hit that. :p

 The Rooney thing was settled last season, it's a moot point.

United have bought in two new keepers one as a first choice as a replacement, again moot point.

Nani - United bought in Young, either way Nani's not coming to the end of his contract and hasn't said he wants to leave like Nasri. Moot point.

Berba? Paper talk, Churnalists need to sell papers. Don't remember United accepting bids for any of those players ala Cesc either.

Didn't really understand the point of that reply :/
