while i can understand what you mean about the Gits movie the series are much better with clearer stories, while the movie felt a bit overly philiosophical to me

I would agree that the GITS SAC series (and the third movie) are better, in my opinion, than the first two movies.

The two "movies", the Individual Eleven and the Laughing Man, of the series' are pretty poor though (particularly if you have seen the series).

Can anyone recommend me an anime to watch, basically the only anime's I've watched in the past are the dragonball series and one piece. I'm planning on watching death note as well by recommendation. :D

Well i really enjoyed the original dragonball series but Z kinda bored me when they just take 10 episodes to power up lol, so no long drawn out anime for me but I really enjoy one piece.
I like a bit of drama/action/comedy sure, I need to be able to laugh when watching :D

Thinking about it, I'd also recommend Black Lagoon. Action heavy, a bit of character development with some comedy. Just expect lots of swearing.

This is one of the few series I recommend the Eng Dub over the original Japanese, and I believe the mangaka went down on record as stating by rights the series SHOULD be in English, but isn't due to his audience.

Black Lagoon almost feels like an 'all-american' anime in some ways. It's gratuitous, OTT, gun-heavy...and well admittedly a lot of fun.

Watch the latest Anime that is being aired now. :)

I highly recommend Ru-Ryu-Bu! for some awesome ball playing lolis. :)

Then there is Hansaku Iroha, Dantlian no Shoka, Blood-C, Beelzebub, Baka To test S1 and S2, Mayo Chiki, Deadman Wonderland, The Idolmaster, Usagi Drop, A Channel, Ano Hana, Depa Onna to Sesihn Otoki, Dog Days, Gosic, Hidan no ****, Hoshizora e Kakaru Hashi, The World God Only Knows S1 and S2.

There is over 9000 others that you should watch too, but it take forever to list them.

Why is A R I A in the word filter?

Why is ... in the word filter
There's a rival shop called that :)

@JonnyCakes
If you're after something just a little different as well
Check out - Bakemonogatari, Spice and Wolf, Elfen Lied and Higurashi :)
Along the more pure drama stetch, you've got Kanon and Clannad+Clannad After Story (watch these in this order)

I'd heartily second Black Lagoon as a fun series and a good action one:)
It's also fairly recent so the animation is good, and I think the complete set of the first 2 seasons is fairly cheap (I'm going to have to watch it again myself).

I checked TRSI earlier, and the second Utena set is finally "reserved" for my order, which means it should ship tomorrow along with BGC :) (Nozomi must be running a little behind, normally they have their titles ready to ship weeks before release rather an a couple of days).

And on a completely different note, it looks like I'm going to have to sort out my anime a bit, I've got DVD's all over the place and I need to sort them into some sort of order again...

I would suggest that Jonnycakes tries something like Soul Eater, Canaan, Black Lagoon or Birdy the Mighty Decode. I would note that I would not suggest he watches quite a few of the series which IronWarrior suggests as a lot of them would probably be far to different from what he has watched so far.

Overall not been able to watch much this week, (medication has been making it difficult to concentrate and stay awake through episodes), but I did manage to finished a re-watch of Aishiteruze Baby earlier ... nice series but I prefer the manga as it expands more on what is going on with some of the other characters and has a definite end (although it is a bit rushed) unlike the anime.

Also watched the latest episodes of Hanasaku Iroha and Usagi Drop (and ordered the OP/ED singles for both of them ... first versions for the former title).

Werewolf ... obviously you need a bigger house so that you can dedicate a room to storing anime/manga/figures ;)
