Don't have much time for him (actually, I think he's a bit of a ****) but other than saying he thinks we could get fourth, which a lot of people are saying, he's hardly gone out of his way to praise us. He's just talking about our signings and how we might play them. Perhaps read stories before commenting on them?

Oh... and journalists? Real stories? That's a joke right? :o

Am I the only one who gets cheesed off with Mark Lawrenson?

I've not even read the article, but you can probably be sure its just another article droning on about how good Liverpool are.

I hate the fact that they have a pundit/journalist who is so openly biased towards his former club.

This isn't a dig at Liverpool so to speak, as I'd probably be the same if they had Tony Adams or some other twollop writing fantastical nonsense every other week. Why don't they hire real journalists and get some real stories?

It makes a change. He's spent every year of Rafa's reign (and the trail end of Ged's) saying in various places how we'r not going to win anything, terrible managing, terrible team, he could do better pretty much etc etc.

In other news - Talksport, Mail, Mirror and Twitter say LFC have reached a fee for Enrique

More about sneijder - inter say he could go if they receive a top offer. Fergie is obviously coy and doesn't want to spend a huge amount. We shall see who wins this battle of attrition...

He said Liverpool might come 4th with a good season. Hardly extolling the brilliance of LFC.

The guardian (quite reliable) have said categorically that a fee has been agreed, only personal terms cannot be agreed upon. i.e. man u aren't willing to match sneijder's wage demands. It's not between inter and man u anymore.

Here's hoping he doesn't lower his demands! :p

i will chip in £5 a month to make his wages up if he joins,i would hate to see him struggle for money.I guess it comes down to ambition, does he want to play in the best league in the world with one of the best clubs in the world ,or he could just join city and get paid

Managers / Cheif Execs do it alllllllll the time, I cant believe you actually think otherwise

Can you please let me in on the secret then. When was the last time a manager came out and said "yeah, we are looking to offload this player, please come and give us as much as possible, we want to get rid of him but knowing this I'm sure that you will wish to give us more than his value".

Transfers & Contracts -> Offer to Clubs.

Then you just set a fee and it's all good.

Well it wasn't really funny and didn't make much sense :/

It was sarcasm and made perfect sense. Certain people on here hammer City for buying players that are only joining for the money but in the next breath are talking about wages holding the Sneijder move up and praying he'll sign.

Obviously it only applies to those certain people though.

It really didn't though, City signings are getting a significant increase in wage and look to be choosing money over success.

If the rumours are to be believed then Sneijder would be getting less money....for a greater chance at winning things.

Tevez has just had his "holiday" extended until Monday.

I think something is happening, something likely to be with Inter. Either a money deal or some kind of swap involving Eto'o or Maicon.

Skrtel reportedly suffered a setback in his recovery from a calf injury which is why he missed the Valerenga match on Monday. Surely we're going to have to sign a CB before the season kicks-off.

If rumours are to be believed then the reason why Sneijder isn't a Utd player now is money. Lets not kid ourselves, if Sneijder has been offered a deal by Utd, he's not going to be earning a great deal less than ~£150k per week. On those sort of terms, if money is still holding up the deal then surely he's just as much of a mercenary as Aguero etc?

And I doubt if Aguero is earning a significant amount more at City than he was at Atletico. He was on big money there and when you take the tax into account (I believe foreign players in La Liga get big tax breaks), even if he's getting £200k a week at City, it wouldn't be a big step up.

Well the money itself isn't what supposedly makes people "mercenaries", its choosing money OVER success, not choosing money and success.

IE if UTd offered 150k a week and a good shout at 3 cups every season, usually winning one, rarely winning none, and City offer 200k a week and little to no chance of winning, then people who choose City get called mecenary.

Choosing good money to go to a successful club from a club that is seemingly going the opposite way at the moment, and not for more money, don't see how you can call that mecenary by the same logic.

I don't see a lot of City signings as automatically mercenary though, whats the bigger challenge, Sneijder going to the current champions with the highest chance of the team winning cups, maybe the easiest offer he can take, or going to a team brand new to the champs league who will rely on you every game and could be the difference between not winning anything, and winning the league for the first time.

City is a harder job, its more of a challenge, and you have the chance to be part of history. Utd, you win yet another title, City, you win the first ever premier league title(top division also?) first European title(no idea if they ever did in the distant past) in the modern era.

You get a chance to make history with city, do things know one has done before. Joinning utd you would just be another player who won the tittle. So i can see how it might appeal to some players.

You also get to join one of the biggest clubs ever in world football up there with AC Milan, Barca and Real Madrid with a massive history. What have Man city done in the last 50 years compared to Utd?
