what wasnt quick enough in the edit please tell me? i dont think there is anything meaningful..
But then back to my point. take midfield for instance, we had Keane and Scholes. Once they started ailing we just threw millions after millions at it.
Veron 28 million, failed, kleberson 8 million, failed, miller 2? million failed.
Time to get serious, 18 million hargreaves, failed, 18 million carrick, inconclusive, 16 million Anderson, could be okay. Scholes finally retires, time to ***** 25+ on sneijder perhaps?
Take the strike force, 9 million cole, 12 million dwight yorke (both were or were close to british records and we would have had the record with shearer had he wanted to come). then we spend 18 on ruud, 30 on waynor, 8 on forlan, 30 on berbatov. Where does it stop lol?
Are you seriously telling me that we dont just throw money at a position until we have the best or until it at least works? The point i am making is pretty obvious, when we had free reign to spend the top values we literally just hoovered up the best players around that we could find, be they local or foreign.
I'm really not sure what your point is though? All teams spend the money they have on who they think are the best players for the best positions whilst trying to nurture homegrown talent and get the odd bargain. For as many 'failures' you're harping on about there are players that have been fantastic either as purchases or from the youth team. I noticed in your tirade of failures you didn't mention Vidic or Bruce, Pallister or Schmeichel, Sharp or even bloody Ronaldo.
In every team with every manager I can think of managers have done the same thing and have had players who haven't lived up to expectations. Arguably though Fergie whether you like the guy or not has done it more successfully than anyone else ever in top flight in England and Scotland.
