One other thing, Wenger said that next week something might happen, vague as ever.

And he seems to be getting vaguer and vaguer, so much for the busy summer that Ivan and Arsene predicted.

I'm sure their hands are slightly tied with the Fab/Nasri situations, but the lack of strengthening at the back is now becoming a joke. I can't believe Arsene thinks Scott Dann can be the answer, he's OK but certainly not a top defender.

I'm trying not to turn into DM and be all doom and gloom, but I can't remember a more frustrating summer as a gooner.

to be fair Im not sure both of those would be in any 1st XI with all of those mentioned (although they are certainly good for the squad)

Biggest thing for City to prove this season is their heart and mind (and deal with the pressure of CL games every other week mixed in with EPL fixtures - which takes getting used to for the core players)

I can only assume you have Kompany confused with someone other than one of the best center backs in the league last season, because he's one of the very first names on the team sheet at City. And he'll be the captain next season too. He's the very definition of one of our 'core' players.

Who would be then!?!?

Well the squad is nearing a team and proved last year we do have the heart and mind eg FA Cup semi/final. It was just a matter of putting into every game which should now happen now they are all familiar to each other.

Pressure of CL games? every player in the first team squad has played in the champions league bar a couple of the youngsters and the english players.
Yaya has even won it a couple of times.
All the core players apart from 3 have played in the champions league and so will not need to get used to anything.

Toure has only won it once and almost your entire backline hasn't played in the CL. :p

Given some of the dire stuff we served up away in Europe last year, I can't wait for what Mancini has in store.

It is frustrating but there's nothing we can do. If Wenger trusts our defence then they need to start repaying that faith, I have no confidence in Gibbs as our first choice left back and I think Wenger is being incredibly naive if he thinks that we can get by with Traore and Gibbs. The idea of Vermaelen playing left back is ridiculous, I would be looking at putting him there in an absolute emergency but ideally we should have replaced Clichy immediately. He'd easily be better than Gibbs but considering he's our best central defender it's an absolute joke to even mention it.

This season is gonna be make or break.

Pastore has signed for PSG! 5 year contract.

Just wow, I honestly can't believe he's made that decision.

Clichy, Kolarov, Kompany and Kolo Touré have played in the Champions League :|.

Out of those only Clichy and Kompany are likely starters though. For what it's worth, I don't think it matters much anyway. Plenty of good players haven't played in the Champions League and Darron Gibson has. :p

Not surprised - PSG are going to have interesting times ahead.

Yup, if the new owners continue to give financial backing and PSG make the right signings they could be the dominant team in Ligue 1 and even start getting further in the Champions League. Good move for Pastore in my opinion.

Kolo Toure will likely be back in for Lescott when hes back from ACON.

I dont think it does either. Of the players who havent played in CL they have played internationally and domestically for a few years now so the jump wont be huge.

Out of interest does anyone know when the CL group stages were made last year as i cant find any info on Uefa for this year?

Oh good, Nasri and Fabregas both "missed" the flight for the Benfica game tonight, with again rumours of a fight with Nasri/Wenger.

Wenger is beyond pathetic, Nasri isn't good and frankly doesn't "fit" in with the team, either attitude wise nor anywhere on the pitch, he's not central midfield, he's not an out and out striker(but thats closest to what he played last year) he's absolutely not a winger. He's one of those players who ends up moving club to club, much like VDV, because even though good, he's not good enough in any single position that you can't find a better cheaper bunch of players to forfill the different roles to start with.

Why are we arguing over him staying, its clear he wants to go, but instead of sending him packing we've been begging him to stay for ludicrous amounts, that will already have done damage to the rest of the team(wait for the, "but Nasri got a 115k a week offer, AND I STAYED, what do I get now?" rubbish in future contract renewals), and not been getting a replacement sorted, to be with the team in preseason, to be ready, match fit, and used to our team BEFORE the ruddy start of the season.

Same old crap, and the Fabregas issue has been dragging on for two years, Wenger, call up Barca in , April, and say, this is how much we want. Go out, make a public statement with a price, early on, so that Barca can match it, that simple.

Buy the players we need, recognise who isn't good enough, and make changes.

We now have a week to buy a left back, a CB, we need a better RB, we need two DM's, and we need someone who can ideally be played left or central in a very creative role, maybe Mata, maybe someone else.

We've done nothing, as per usual.
