He is a proven Keeper

How is he not? He has some experience, he's not as experienced then "older" keepers for the obvious reason that he's not as old as them.

You're making no point, other then looking like an even bigger idiot then you normally do.

You should refrain from posting in future, there are some wonderful people in this sports section, you however are an embarrassment of a fan.

Sorry he is not a proven keeper. He is a prospect. It is that simple, i even found the dictionary definition for you stating what proven means.

The telegraph even posted a headline: "Manchester City v Manchester United: Jury is out on David de Gea after conceding two goals"

I think the terms 'proven' and 'jury still out' are mutually exclusive. A proven goalie doesnt say that he needs to learn hard and fast either.

Then there are the deluded ones who post things such as, 'De Gea is proven', but that 'Sanchez is unproven' - we had 3 pages of someone arguing with me that Sanchez wasnt even going to Barca - but i knew he would so why even waste my time with that? Or that our signings have put us closer to Barcelona, due to the quality of ours being higher than theirs (or the opposite of that). One corker was that Skelenburg would cost as much, or near as much as De Gea? I mean where do people pull this from?

You can search back, i also said that Sneijder wasnt coming, he could the deal was closer than i thought so i was wrong in a way. But i dont think he will now, it's too late.

And you know that how?

Wasn't there an article by United confirming that Berbatov was the last kind of signing regarding about their age? So Wesley is 27.
United policy is not to sign anyone above 27 as the isn't any re-sale value.

Hence the reason why i think it wont happen. Would love it if it does happen...

Massive explosion of BBC ITK's saying a fee has been agreed with Inter for Sneijder and personal terms being discussed

I know it's not even anything that hasn't already been said weeks ago but thought I'd get a few excited :p

Part of me thinks that, and part of me thinks maybe (MAYBE) the Glazers have allowed the occasional signing of marquee players with little to no resale value.

The way I see it is our transfer budget (hypothetically) is £30m:

We spend £15m twice on two highly rated youngsters, at the worst we sell them in a few seasons for a loss, at best we sell them in a few years for twice that if not more. If the money men are convinced by their talent, we haven't really spent that £30m but invested it in resaleable assets.

That leaves the original £30m to actually spend on a player with less resale value.

That to me is why we should not be focused on our transfer outgoings but our wage bill and is obviously why we have cleared out some of the higher earners at the club e.g.
Van der Sar
Brown
O'Shea
Scholes
Hargreaves
Neville
(& extra from Obertan and probably Gibson)

It's reasonable to assume that De Gea, Jones and Young are probably earning comparable amounts to Van der Sar, Brown and O'Shea which leaves a very sizeable Sneijder-sized chunk of the wage bill left to spend.

And what about Young, One More Solo :p

Well, Young is only 26 and the fee has been quoted at around £17m but until we see the accounts we don't know how accurate that is. I expect it's estimated on the high side (or includes add-ons) due to his contract situation before he left Villa. Either way, you think we'd get at least half that figure back should we sell him two years from now.

I totally agree, I cant remember another transfer window when we've got rid of so many off the wage bill, wouldn't surprise me whatsoever if that's been done so we can balance the books by paying Sneijder what he wants (within reason)

I still don't think it's worth a £90m+ investment, but meh. I say that because I don't think he'll add £90m+ of value... the squad's good enough to do extremely well, without him, and the current ~prospects~ need to be given a chance.

People are too worried about the money aspect of it, football clubs have PLENTY of money in general if they need it, and Manchester United are quite easily the biggest club in the world (or joint).

I personally don't care about the money, it may not be amazing value but then not very much is these days. Sneijder will have at least another 5 or so years in him.

Cleverley looks great, he can be utilised in the squad as well as Sneijder sometimes and he's still young and so far impossible to judge accurately.

As I said earlier, I wont be unhappy if we don't get Sneijder but I'd very much like him.

the sun posted the new generation manu team with the avarage age of 24, it didnt look half bad.

de gea

rafael
smalling
jones
fabio

nani
anderson
cleverley

hernandez
macheda
welbeck

with these last couple of signings it looks like fergie has built his team of the future and we saw a glimpse of what it could do on sunday.

I can't be the only one to spot the flaw surely?
