You really think Arsenal wanted to sell Csec? Of course they're not desperate to sell him but unfortunately they've got a player who for 3 summers now has wanted to leave to a club that simply will not pay the fee Arsenal want so although you dont want people to use this excuse you either sell for the amount the buying club are willing to spend or you keep a players who's not 100% commited.

Arsenal are in the unfortunate position that he only ever wanted to join Barca and Barca have used that to not pay the 40m+ sucks for Arsenal but brilliant for Barcelona.

a half commited fabregas is still better then any of our current crop of players at arsenal and why strengthen our rivals in the process? Fabregas could come back to haunt us this season knocking us out of the champions league.

he could haunt chelsea, city and united too.

Right Man Utd muppets latest on the transfer front is that it was discussed at Fergie's press conference but the quotes have been embargoed until tomorrow

Ian Ladyman (what an unfortunate name) says they'll be some interesting quotes from Fergie released then. He also told someone to do one when they question Sky Bet as being a better source than him or the Daily Fail lol

Jesus people really don't get the Fabregas/Modric situation. Lets say Fabregas 2 years ago tells Wenger he really wants to leave, Wenger says, we gave you your real start in your career, you like us we like you, we know you want to leave. Sign a new contract, play one more year, we'll let you go next year but having signed a new contract that means we get a fair fee for you.

Cesc loves Arsenal, has no problem, Barca will pay 40mil for someone anyway so why not him. So he signs a new contract with the agreement that he'll get to go to Barca.

The alternative is Cesc doesn't sign a new contract, plays for 2 more seasons then leaves on a free. Cesc wins, Arsenal lose. The ONLY reason Cesc signed a new contract was TO HELP ARSENAL. Where is the point in screwing him.

This seems to clearly be the case with Modric, he signed a contract extension but had a gentlemans agreement that this was essentially to make sure Spurs get a good price if a top 4 club come in for him. Without a 3 year extension he'd be worth less(ignore City massively overpaying for no real reason here).

We sold Cesc because Cesc did US a favour and has been pretty much an Arsenal legend since 16yr old. HE could have forced his way out leaving Arsenal nothing, he didn't want that, he wanted us to get a fee, thats no reason to then completely screw him. If we did that, he'd see out his contract and leave on a free next time.

I've been saying we should sell Eboue for two years.......... Wenger's the idiot that insisted on keeping a 50-60k a week player on the books while refusing to play him.

My prefered choice is sell Sagna, start Eboue, improve the team, save money. Wenger's clearly not going to drop Sagna, so sell Eboue, its a business decision and should have been made two years ago. Eboue's barely ever played in the past two years, we could have sold him and had a kid on 10-15k a week doing the same job.

sorry but i disagree with your post. If fabregas is trying to help arsenal get good money from him, why isnt barcelona coughing up the 40m? 2 years ago fabregas was worth around 30m. today his being sold same amount? by your logic, fabregas HASNT helped us not one bit. hasnt helped us win any silverware for the last 2 years and hasnt helped arsenal gain more funds from him.

If he wanted to go 2 years ago we could have sold him to barcelona for the SAME price we are now offering him to barca now. so what have we gained from him signing 6 year contract? No trophies, no proper fee for him.

Arsenal lose, fabregas wins and prevails yet again showing players are above a club. No one puts a gun to these players heads telling them to sign a contract. Look at nasri. i prefer fabregas did a nasri and not SIGN a contract. Nasri is going for nearly the same price as fabregas with 1 year left of his contract comopared to 4, YES 4 years and our best player and captain.

Just shows how we are geting screwed in this deal big time. like i said, there is simply NO RUSH to sell him this season. sell him when barca cough up the 40m. even that is a bargain for a player like fabregas at his age.

edit: and we recently bought some unkown kid still taking his GCSE's playing in a lower yes LOWER league division for nearly HALF the sum of barca's cash for fabregas. what a load of farce.

Good luck buying a ready made world class CM for 30m to replace fabregas. Yup, fabregas is helping us finish outside the top 4 more like. Go back to barca, the club that abandoned you when you was a kid, did not give you the opprtunity to shine whilst arsenal did. nice way to repay us.
