But that is one example...look at the whole picture. :)

My point was he was writing off Gervinho after a couple of games, his final ball has been lacking in those 2 games, but he's settling into a new country/team and seems to be a direct runner, something the club has been missing for some time.

Genuine shock/surprise...what is he doing? Hasn't Vela gone on loan as well?

Yes Vela went yesterday on loan to Spain.

Fair point about Gervinho and i admittedly haven't seen every single second he has played. I'm sure Wenger hasn't entirely lost it but i (amongst others) feel that this season will be the deciding one. He has a lot of money which could have been spent much earlier if Fab and perhaps Nas had been sorted out at the start of the window.

Arsenal need at least 3 good signings.

No but Adebayor & Diarra to Spurs are done deals and will be announced tomorrow.

really? i thought wages were the stumbling block on both, be interesting to see how it's been sorted if it is true, i hope it is.

modric not playing tonight, groin injury 'apparently'. seems more like to me a ploy by levy to chelsea saying, we've left him out, he is eligibile for cl for you for that reason, now give us £35m!

I read somewhere that City were willing to pay some of his wages or something. I think it was in 'The Metro'.

yeh i heard the same and would think city willl be paying atleast £100k of them but he is available for £15m apparently, that's a bargain imo maybe we're loaning with a view to first refusal which does make sense.

can't see how we're going to get over diarras wages though?

modric is no longer a spurs player i reckon, can't build a team around him now but if we could get diarra and sandro continues to progress and with walker a good prospect at rb, chuck adebayor into the mix and we should be better equipped to grip 4th than arsenal and liverpool.

Can you imagine what DM made of a certain Thierry Henry when he joined. Played as a striker, and then didn't score for the first 8 games...

I could see the potential, and he was always originally a striker, it was Wenger who put him on the wing at Monaco, rather stupidly, where he wasn't anywhere near as good, then finally at Arsenal he got put back upfront, and shone.

Notice something, since monaco he's been buying strikers and insisting on putting them on the wing, its worked...... once, and it took what, 5-6 years.

Traore on loan to QPR by the end of the week. Madness! Blackburn are interested in Lansbury. Even more Madness!

Meh, he is completely gash, but more madness by Wenger, if he leaves we'll need 2 starting quality left backs, Gibbs and Djourou shouldn't be at the club. IF Woodgate or Hargreaves were as injury prone from before they even hit the first teams, it would be as stupid as QPR getting Dyer and thinking he'd last a whole game.

If Jenkinson or Sagna get injured who the hell is going to be playing? Jenks actually looks ok, and quite tall if not very strong looking. But we need two left and right backs, neither of our current left backs are very good and one is leaving.

I haven't writen off Gervinho, AT ALL, read my posts. He's rubbish on the wing, he is, it hasn't been two games, I've watched, 6 games I think that he's played in now, he's been absolutely gash in each one. He can't pass, can't cross, can run the ball to the corner flag quite well, then do nothing, defensively didn't offer a thing.

I've specifically stated in each post that its early but the EARLY SIGNS are awful. I also stated in the very very first game when several Arsenal fans were raving about two goal Gervinho, that it was his wing play that was important because he would not be played upfront under Wenger. His wing play was very poor, his fitness has improved yet theres not a single sign of better passing or non Theo like retardedness when it comes to decision making. The two tap ins he got upfront while briefly leading the line weren't relevant if he'll never play there.

Theo is awful on the wing, and might make a good striker. If Wenger simply will not ever play him upfront, why pay him and keep him as a winger? If Gervinho is fantastic upfront, and woeful on the wing, but Wenger will never play him upfront....... whats the point?

Wilshire is fantastic, if for some absurd reason Wenger decided to only ever play him as a truly awful goal keeper and would not play him in central midfield, its not his fault, but he won't be helping the team.

Again its another retarded situation created by Wenger, a formation that doesn't work and his utter insistance on playing people out of position for literally no reason.

Wenger does seem to like playing strikers as wingers.

Its a completely different game on the wing to playing up front.

Walcott is not a good winger, but could be a half decent through the middle hanging on the shoulder of the last man striker.
Didnt wenger spout some horse**** about developing as a footballer by playing on the wing? whats the point? if he causes defenders to **** their pants by playing through the middle, then do that, and buy some proper wide players.

Dunno if its been posted here but under Cesc new contract with barca, we have a buy out clouse where we can buy him back for half price

Why have such a clause in his contract unless his planning to come back to arsenal?

There are rumours going on that this may be because Pepe guardiola will replace Wenger as arsenal manager and may take Cesc with him back here?

All doubtful of course but not the fact that there is a buy back clause though? Thoughts? Why have such a clause when Cesc clearly wants to stay at barca forever? or does he? Does he feel he will come back to Arsenal some day and retire here?

ummm

Lets move on to Nasri. he seems to be going to man city for 22m? Will wenger spend the cash to replace him and cesc for like for like? If so, what PLayer of equal calibre to Cesc can we get for say around 40m/110k per week wages?

I personally dont think there is many for that wage. for strickly transfer price, 40m is plenty to buy a Cesc type player but the wage demands may not be as hardly any world class player earns less then 200k nowadays.

You may be saying, "Well we have wilshere and ramsey", But the million doller question is can those two combine and play as well as cesc and nasri? if so, can they stay injury free throughout the majority of the season? if the answer is yes to both, no need to spend for a cesc/nasri replacement but if no then we need to spend unless you dont mind Diaby and Rosicsky replacing wilsher/ramsey when their injured?

As you can see, As rightly predicted by me a few seasons ago, Arsenal are going downhill thick and fast and if Wenger continues to be our manager conducting business like this, how many more seasons can we scrap 4th spot?

Do we need to wait till the inevitable for us to finish below 4th before the board changes their ways/manager? Or is that not even enough to convince them and some fans things need changing?

Two big players are gone, replaced with what seems to be ramsey and wilshere, both huge potential but both cant play a whole season injury free and that's where the danger lies because make no mistake, when they are injured, we will rely heavily on Rosisky and diaby to run the show in midfield and that is worrying as neither players are IMO not good enough for most premiership teams.

Anyways best of luck to cesc. Dont blame him. Wish him all the best at barca as im sure he will flourish there.

edit: i take back Morinho to potentially replace Wenger. that guy showed his true colours and if i was a RM fan i would be embarrassed and sickened by it.

erm isn't his buyout clause c200m? So I think Barca probably felt it was a pretty safe sweetener to give to that famously big spending Arsenal board and manager.

Reportedly Arsenal have a seperate buy back clause in his deal (not sure whether it's for 50% of what Barca paid though).

I seriously doubt there's any planned return though. I guess it's just Arsenal making sure they have first dibs on him if things don't work out at Barca.

i thought it was if barca sold him, arsenal got 50% of the fee? arsenal also get first refusal if he becomes available?
