Singapore Grand Prix 2011, Marina Bay Street Circuit - Race 14/19

Massa isn't the quickest driver, granted... but slow off the apex. Blinded by fanboism you are :)

No just common motorsport knowledge, coupled with a few watches of the replay, that if you take a compromised entry to a corner on the inside then of course your exit speed will be slower. It was a misjudgement of mere inches by Hamilton, but a mistake nonetheless. People lose their front wings pretty much every race. But only when Hamilton does it does it get blown up out of all proportion and questions about his WDC credibility raised.

LOL love how much youve blown it out of context - butthurt much ;)

Next we will hear about fire and brimstone or the ten plagues because of what weve said here :p

ps3ud0

If RBR keep hold of Adrian Newey I wouldn't be too sure, Guy seems to be the real force in F1, Will see though.

A misjudgement that he keeps making. I don't know if this is a function of how McLaren design the front half of their cars or what, but he's spent a good portion of his career so far losing bits of wing on the back of other cars and sometimes puncturing tyres in the act. Hell, he finished off Rubinho's title challenge at Brazil in '09 by doing just that - clipping a rear tyre with his front wing on the exit of Arquibancadas. Yes, cutting an overtake a bit fine means you've got more chance of getting by and less chance for the other guy to get back at you straight away. But if you're going to go puncture another guy's tyre then you should expect the stewards to take a quick look at see if maybe you were being a bit silly.

Massa has every right to be bloody annoyed with Hamilton over that. It was so ******* unnecessary, he was always going to get by with fresher tyres and DRS coming to him. But no, not Hamilton, he has to go hammering in like a bull in a God-damned china shop....

It's becoming hard to watch him right now without shaking my head and wondering where the real Lewis Hamilton has gone to. If he's not tip-toeing around, afraid of making a move for fear of incurring the wrath of the stewards (see Monza, and his fairly limp - by his standards - effort behind Schumacher), then he's just charging around with not a single braincell engaged (e.g. Monaco, Silverstone, today). Hey ho. Maybe next year the real Lewis Hamilton will enter the world championship, rather than the one we have at the moment. This one is no fun to watch.

Just finished watching the race on iplayer & f1 forum.

A good race over all RBR no surprise that Seb won and pritty much has it covered

Well done to Di Resta Quality drive!

Jenson what a lad! :)

And with Lewis i just take each race as it comes now if he crashes meh... Jenson IS the better driver this season.

I just hope that Mclaren do find something for 2012 i think again Adrian Newey for RBR will do an amazing job for 2012 as he did for Mclaren.

Roll on 8th Oct :)

Nope. I have honestly never thought Ham is as good as any of them...overhyped and overrated. If he was anywhere near as good as those he'd be a double WDC at least...sadly he's not!

I'll probably regret mentioning this, but he almost could have been. The level of bad luck Hamilton's had this year doesn't come close to how much bad luck he had in the last two races of 2007 (he absolutely should have won it that year). And if Hamilton didn't get a puncture on the penultimate lap of the Spanish GP last year, the 18 points he missed out on would have made him champion by a larger margin over Vettel than how many Vettel won it over Alonso.

I guess what I'm trying to get at is that Hamilton is an exceptional driver... it's just that this year has been an extremely rough ride for him for whatever reasons. Hopefully next year he will be back to his winning ways.

But anyway, I'm not really one for reflecting on what could have been, so I'll just leave it at that for fear of getting into something I don't want to be involved in.

nope it's perfectly true what you said...it's just my opinion that a better driver and perhaps a better man would have siezed those chances with both hands. Alonso sure as hell would have in the same position I believe and probably a couple of other guys. It's this kind of thing, and his implosion this year that mark him out to be an almost great driver...

I think you have to just hold your hands and just say what an amazing job RBR and Seb have done this year. Im mclaren through and through but RBR have just created a masterpiece of a car for seb and hes brought the thing home every race no problem.

Hamilton;s incident today wasnt even a big deal but imo stupid clumsy mistake but those inclidents happen every race, Its not like he bullied someone into a wall or was trying to force an overtake that wasnt there he was just clumsy, talk about drama.

Hes getting involved in lots of incidents though but it just reminds me of this

I'm a Hamilton fan. At the moment though, I just find myself wincing when he starts mixing it with other drivers, because there is an air of inevitability about it all - it's like he's almost destined to wallop someone, somewhere.
I don't have the same feeling when I see Alonso, Button, Webber or Massa doing the same thing.

I can't believe people are actually ridiculing Massa for being aggrieved at yesterday's race. I've seen drivers headbutt each other stuff like that.

I agree that Massa has every right to feel aggrieved over the incident, no one would take kindly to having a fresh supersoft ripped off the rear of their car two corners after the pit exit.

However, Hamilton not only had to come in for a new nose, he also had a drive-through penalty for the incident. Despite the extra stop, Hamilton finished four places ahead of Massa.

When you consider that, the only person Massa can blame for finishing ninth is himself.

It's like Whitmarsh said on the forum: After the crash and the drive-through penalty, finding yourself in 20th position and over a minute behind the leader, many drivers would have just given up (Massa) but Lewis battled hard for the remainder of the race and did well to only lose one position off his qualifying place.

I know he had the radio conversation with the pit wall, "Am I still racing for points", but once they had assured him the race was still on, he gave it everything he had.

The Mclaren did also look like the faster car, plus the gap between massa/hamilton got closed completely behind the safety car.

If I were Massa, I would've been annoyed, he incident was entirely avoidable. It's a shame really - I think Hammilton is getting frustrated because for the first time in his career he's not the no1 driver..

For all we know the tyre flailing around while he hobbled back to the pits did damage to the car. We all know a little aero damage can cost you a lot of time.

also I've seen it a few times that Massa approached Hamilton privately and Hamilton basically told him to **** off...so that's why he decided to show the camera's what he thought. Hamilton's petulance is why Massa responded like he did. Also, Hamilton swore at Massa on the tv...if you listen carefully! I'm all for giving the guy a break, but sometimes he deserves the ** Please fully star out swearing *** he copping....
