** F1 2011 - Official Thread **

YES!

This was actually one of the first things I notice compared to the previous game. In 2010 I always used it and found that once you go to know the track, you could brake a little later than the line was showing.

I've found in the new game that on some corners, it tells me my speed is fine, but it's clearly too much.

Yeah i find this also.

I'm a newb with racing games so have assists on :( and still fail..lol

how many of you have bought this on the PS3? it's a complete joke.

The game is immensely fun, but the graphics glitching, massive framerate drops and it's already crashed once in multiplayer.

Just had a look at the codemasters forum for the game and apparently the PS3 version is massively bugged :(

Makes it so difficult to actually drive around the track. Last years version had no patch releases so it's looking like a MASSIVE joke. How the hell do they get away with releasing it in this state? unreal.

I have heard the PS3 is practically ruined.

Thats why i have got it on PC rather than Xbox or PS3. On PC using my GTX 460 it is silky smooth on every track so far.

It's not perfect on the PS3 but I've found it playable, by no means is it as worse as people making it out to be, the only problem I've had is a few hiccups in the pits, I tink they'll patch it soon.

This is the Gameracer seat and the Fanatec 911 GT2 wheel.

Just about to start an online coop session last night.

It feels amazing to be honest. I have wanted one for years and years when I used to race on the PC. Yes they are expensive but it more than makes up for it.

The wheel is incredible. I had an old Logitech Momo (Black), at the time i thought it was good but the Fanatec wheel is a whole new level. Very responsive and the feedback is awesome. Whether its subtle bumps to full on gravel traps or over steer & under steer. The pedals are the standard version, there are better pedals available from Fantec, but not at a price i wanted to pay.

The Seat etc just give the whole package more immersion. Plenty of scope for adjusting for people of all shapes and sizes. Its very well make and the whole thing weighs in around 20kg. It took me around 2-3 hours to get my ideal driving position, now i have it its all locked in place. I absolutely love it.

If people are considering the wheel - dont. Just go and order it now. Do make sure you have a stable platform to clamp the wheel too.

As for the seat, I would say go for it. It does kind of pack away in a portable size, but probably not enough to leave it in your living room etc. Well worth the price but it is expensive.

The whole lot just makes F1 2011 (and any driving game utterly brilliant. Im so glad i bought them, I cant imagine going back to a pad anymore.
Hi - did you have to calibrate your steering wheel with the game?

The reason I ask is: I've got a Logitech GT with the same seat as yours with the 2010 game but mine's over steering to a point where I can't play the game.

It's fine with other F1 CE & other NFS games. Did you have to set the steering wheel options on this game?

There is some noticeable screen tear when in the pits or during some of the replays, its not too bad. The graphics on my Panasonic 1080p plasma do somehow look a bit better then the 720p TV upstairs - which is a tad odd as i've never noticed it before..

I've played the PC version and the graphics on the PC are nothing short of mindblowing compared to the PS3, however the 360 pad on PC is woeful and its nigh on impossible to control the car without any aids on... I honestly can't believe the vast difference on controls from the PS3 to PC. Its like two whole different games..

I can see why folks don't bother with PC gaming as much these days (Controversial statement no doubt) however I spent about 2 - 3 hours of installing, configuring and tweaking to get to a first race on the PC, with the PS3 it was up and running within less then 10 minutes and still plays better with a pad compared to the PC. PC looks awesome, just takes a bit of tweaking to make it playable..

I guess the PC version would be wicked with a wheel, overall the game is good but the PS3 is by far the weakest graphical game I’ve seen from codemasters which is a shame, as F1 2010 did look fairly nice.

The safety car showed itself with a race last night, it works well. Like the addition of flag waving, but I still don’t like how you can’t watch the AI drive around the tracks… Big feature that should be in a game like this..

I suppose not ruined then....damn friends!

3hrs? to install, configure and tweak? Takes 10mins if that to install and then away you go. What were you configuring? or tweaking?

Lulz...I have the PC version with a 360 pad. Was playing it instantly thanks to pre-loading ;)

I have all assists off apart from manual gears, not noticed any real difference over playing the 360 version, no harder nor easier.

Gamepad for the PC, using a 360 pad it took some tweaking so as I didn't crash soon as I turned the wheel.. also graphics settings tweaking etc, took a good few hours and even then wasn't able to race without some challange as gamepad was twitchy on the PC.

PS3 version handles much better or so it seems to me. I've heard other reports on the net about the PC version and 360 pad handling being twitchy.

This is what I don't get.. It took me totally by surprise how poor it handled on the PC.. Its just so mixed out there. Folks complaining it handles poorly with a 360 pad, others saying it doesn't.

I also installed from a media DVD BTW. So didn't have steam pre load...

I just put all the settings on MAX/Ultra and then raced. Haven't contemplated changing my settings for the controller and i am as smooth as Jenson Button himself! :p

I might look into it though, might help me in qualifying! :(

hi guys

got this today but have not got a clue what settings i should be on?

i want a challenge but not to hard and would like tire wear and fuel use on but cant find options for these???

i set the difficulty to medium is that a good start?

cheers

Have a race and see how you go, easiest way to find out ;)

I've only done a couple of 50% races and have tyre/fuel on, TC at full and AI on pro.

i may turn most assists off but keep traction control on , ive heard there is a medium setting for tc , wonder what thats like?

the only reason i ask is i hate having to keep changing and restarting because im not happy with the options.

cheers

* where is the setting for AI drivers?

I think i'm going to sell my Sanwa Modded Arcade stick for SF4 and get a wheel. Really need one for this game i feel.

May wait for Microsofts fancy new motion wheel thats out next month as i've read that it's actually rather good!

Only played a little - did practice for Melbourne yesterday evening, signed with Lotus. Managing to do lap times of around 1:31 and the others are doing about 3/4 seconds a lap faster. AI difficult is on the second one I think, so either that's why or because they've made the speed of the cars more realistic in this one unlike 2010?

I went out and bought this on Saturday for Playstation 3. So far I've gotten up to the Chinese Grand Prix and I'm really enjoying it, I'd be further in but I started again to try each of the starter teams. Also started a co-op career with Sinny last night, racing as Virgin which was fun but challenging, I don't see how people can say the PS3 version is ruined or unplayable, I played F1 2010 and this is perfectly fine.
