Emotional Video - Woman hearing for the first time in 29 years

In the following link is a woman who is 29 years old and hasn't heard a single sound since the day she was born. She has a Cochlear implant installed and this is her reaction to hearing herself speak, laugh, and cry for the first time.

It's pretty emotional and was smiling watching the video, very happy for her

Deaf people can speak, some very well its just harder to learn.

That's what I was thinking, must be something that her mind recognises her sound from her voice or similar.

That is pretty amazing, I'm happy for her.

I just wish the other woman didn't talk to her as though she was a 3 year old child.

Well, she HAS heard a single sound before, like how you can hear yourself when you shut your ears or get some temporary tinnitus. It';s 29 years, she can probably hear herself as the vibrations made will directly reach the ear drum, and sound travels better through one sole dense medium/set of similar mediums than through air.

There was a woman in the Metro today talking about this. Apparently she has lost her sense of taste as a consequence but wouldn't change it for the world.

when you talk, their are vibrations, she'll be able to use them to able her to talk.. accent ? yeah she does doesnt she, a deaf persons accent.....

She either wasn't completely deaf or hasn't been deaf from birth.

my friends guess was "because deaf people, especially deaf people who have been that way all their life, are very sensitive to vibrations, so when they do talk they can feel it, whether its vibrating in the areas around their skull, like their jawbone, or their chest.. so you will develope an accent.. that or from being very good at lip reading... if you say the word "laughter" in a few different accents..
the mouth movements are very different
