****The Official Samsung Galaxy S II Thread***

Nah, Odin mode is Download mode, recovery is ClockworkMod Recovery (if you're rooted, which you are).

To get into recovery you hold Vol UP+Home+Power.

I don't know whether this will fix your problem, but using CWM backup directly should atleast rule out that it's a problem with the app :).

Okay, I got to that screen but I don't see an option to backup. I've got
-reboot system now
-apply update from sdcard
-wipe data/factory reset
-wipe cache partition

Does this mean I infact do NOT have CWM installed?

Yep, you're not rooted by the looks of it :(.

What did you do originally when you thought you rooted it?

I have superuser though. Titanium back up works as well. I can't remember what I did to root it. I had to download some program and plug my phone to my PC (sorry I can't be more useful).

Should I perhaps unroot, then root my phone again?

When I look at the "Flash ClockworkMod Recovery" option on Rom manager, it says "current recovery: clockworkmod 4.0.1.5

Do this to root (properly :p) :).

Just download whichever kernel version is closest to the one you have atm and flash it via Odin like you did previously. This should give you CWM Recovery :).

Ignore the stuff about the yellow triangle.

Yeah, you can reroot no problem :).

Just noticed your edit about ROM Manager saying you have CWM recovery, I have no idea why it's saying that :(. There's only those 4 options in blue text in recovery, yeah? If so it isn't CWM :).

I've only used that app once when I tried CM7 and it didn't work properly for me :p, I prefer just using recovery mode, much easier IMO :).

Alrighty then. Thanks bro, I'm just going to the gym but I'll post in this thread to tell you how I get on.

:)

Just flashed CM7. Everything is fine except for my external SD card. CM can see it, and I can add/delete stuff to it using the phone. However, CM can't see any of the data already on it or any new stuff I copy over from my PC.

I flashed my old ROM (Batista) back and that works fine.

Anyone else got this?

Does anybody have experience with Samsungs repair process?
I spoke to one guy who said 14 days minimum, I sent it special delivery so they should have got it by now. just wondering. How long i'm going to be without a phone. It's already been very painful and this is just the first day ...

If its Regenersis you've sent it back to, good luck with that. They told me 5-10 working days, it took them nearly four weeks. Then when it did come back they said there was no fault found, but the issue (dodgy USB port) re-appeared as soon as I turned the phone on. Returned it again, within three days they got back to me and said it was water damage so not covered under warranty. Complained to Three, they eventually gave in and sent me a new phone and no charge.

Not trying to depress you, but that's my experience with them:p

you were looking in the wrong place

Mine is at mnt/emmc/

CM7 follows the proper convention of using mnt/emmc.

Hmm, Rom manager is being a bit odd with regards to CWM, and I think this is the same problem as Mattey1:

Firstly I'm running KI4 with the appropriate CF-Root kernel flashed to root and give his modified CWM (4.0.0.2 apparantly).

I got ROM Manager, told it to flash the latest CWM and it reports 4.0.1.5, all good I thought.

Asked it to do a backup, it rebooted and I got what appears to be the stock recovery, just 4 options, blue text, and a failure message.

Reboot and phone still works, phew.

Check ROM Manager and it still says I've got version 4.0.1.5, check the CWM app from CF-Root and select Backup, which reboots into the 4.0.0.2 recovery and does the backup fine.

If I power on the phone with Vol Up + Home + Power I get the 4.0.0.2 recovery, if I attempt to backup or reboot into recovery via ROM Manager I get the broken 'stock' recovery.

Really quite odd, basically ROM Manager seems just broken, tempted to just ask it to flash the zip and see if that works (doubtful I think) and/or use the 4.0.0.2 recovery to flash it...

What does your kernel say under "about phone" ?

By anychance did you flash XWKDD_insecure kernel & then root with superoneclick?

This is what it says

2.6.35.7-I9100XWKF3-CL276555
rooat@DELL101 #2

So i'm guessing I'm grabbing the KF3 file

Okay, so I installed CF-root (is that right, I'm rubbish with this terminology) and CWM is running a backup through CWM manager - this is great.

But Rom manager is incompatible with this type of root, so I guess I'll have to find the other way to install Cyanogenmod.

ROM Manager doesn't work with CF-Root, that's why you have the CWM app :).

Exhashdotdot: yeah, grab KF3 CF-Root and flash with Odin :).

Just saw edit: you flash CM7 in recovery, install update from SD or something, I can't check atm but it's easy to do :).
