Battlefield 3 RETAIL Performance Thread

what kind of fps are you getting as you system is near identicle to mine as my ram is also at 900mhz but i have 1 5870.

If that's directed at me well I get anything from over 100fps to below 40fps
Most part it's smooth.
Some of the maps are just amazing to look at STUNNING, am I more sensitive to fps drops or are some people on here just egsaderating ?? For the amount of eye candy I have to admit I am surprised it runs at all

The game auto detected every thing on high, except ultra textures, with deffered off.

I put everything to ultra with deffered off, and the game is just as smotth at 1920x1200.

What is the one setting that tends to kill your fps do you think? I have everything set to high apart from shadows on medium HBAO is off as well as motion blur. I tend to get 60fps with d3doverider on instead on the in game vsync option but get a drop to around 40-45 on casapian border when in the middle of the map all be it i am running this on a 5850 clocked to 825/1100 temps max out at 55c. I have a 900/1100 clocked saved which requires a bit more juice from the standard 1.019v to 1.125v but not actually tried it yet

All these people playing the game with the FOV set to 70 tut tut... change it to 85+ and then post your results. FOV of 70 is what the consoles are set to, were PC Gamers Grrrrr ;)

Hey Guys, been loving Battlefield 3, however I have terrible stutter I will be running forward and every few seconds it pauses for what must be just a second but its so annoying, its running at 30 fps minimum at all times all settings High at 1920x1080, no AA expect for that post process version, I have the x3 unlocked to a quad at 3.4 ghz totally stable.

I have a friend on a near identical set-up (except he is still running his processor at x3) and he has the same FPS but no stuttering at all, at a loss as to how to fix it, have tried lowest settings as a test and its exactly the same :(.

Does changing fov have much of a performance hit? Ive always just left it at default, screen res is 1920x1200.

70 is fine for me really only cos i have never tried anything different so cant really compare lol i guess raising it comes at a cost of performance tho and i need to try and restrict to many high settings for my 5850 :)

Get another 5850 dude :) I have 5850 CF using 11.10 Prev3 drivers and the game runs like a dream. Not even overclocked them and I'm averaging 70fps on Caspian Border with 64 players.

Got myself a Crucial M4 64GB SSD and 8GB ram and now I loaded up BF3 and noticed I'm only using 1600MB of VRAM where as before the RAM upgrade it was 1950MB. So I increased some settings to Ultra and the FPS has stayed the same more or else. But the best thing is the stuttering has gone! The game looks so much better on Ultra.

The only think I can think of is the extra RAM has allowed the game to buffer the textures and so I no longer run out of VRAM :)

Tried it with fov set at 85, very tiny drop in fps, im getting 65-140 on the settings below. Averaging 80 ono.

How are your 470s handling BF3 Setter?

I'm thinking of going sli with another 570 myself, but I'm a little concerned about the 1.3GB vram with a 1080p res.

Very impressed with them tbh, now that ive found the sweetspot as far as settings go. Most ive seen used on vram was 1213mb of 1280mb. I was gonna get shot of them and go for a 3gb 580, (sli later on). Decided to keep them till the next generation.

Does anyone else get this problem........
When I go to Video settings and adjust the settings I save it which then puts up a banner asking "Do you want to save these settings" but the screen freezes and I have to Conrol,Alt Delete ?

So far with this game I've had 1 BSOD 4 in game crash back to desktop and 3 freezing uo when changing video settings

surely your single 570 handles it perfectly ? mine does!

Same here I have the MSI 570 Twin FroZr III OC version and with Ultra settings on and all the aa and msaa that it sets it at and FOV at 80 at 1080p I am getting 44 fps average on Caspian Border on a 64 man server.

I have a 570 and play at 2560 x 1440, no need to be concerned, its fine

You have one 570?
Are you using presets? I find it barely playable for me at high-medium settings at that resolution. I turned the resolution down to 1080p and high, that's ok for me, what do you think about your performance?
