Your current Fish tank Setups!

Impellor, motor , light tubes, light unit.. The list goes on.
New external filter? £70+. New impellor £4, but youll struggle to get one.

The light tubes are also not standard fit so bulbs are harder to find.

What sort of ferts are people using for their planted tanks? Im not getting stability in my tank and plants keep growing like mad then slowing right down again.

I currently dose with the seachem range. use all the ferts and the plants grow like mad, iv actually had to stop dosing because theyre growing so fast.

I follow the EI method with a ~40% water change once a week.

Personally I upgrade all the rubbish filters and lights which come with tanks anyway.

No need if you get a decent tank, comes with good lights/filters!

My marine setup. Just added a lot of live rock to both the main tank and the sump. Ordered a new tank for January so will need the extra rock for that, got about £350 worth of rock for £100 on gumtree, well chuffed.

Bit of algae atm but currently dosing the tank so should be cleared up soon. This was taken just as the lights came on so plants are not out fully.

Lots of second hand equipment for sale m8 if you ever fancy it. People spend a small fortune getting setup and end up selling for 1/4 of what they paid. Check out your local gumtree every few days, something will come up.

Aquarist classifieds is also a good place.

WOW! I take it those little things in with them are some sort of fry food?

I've got exactly the same little tank as that one sat around doing nothing, is it easy to keep sea horses?

Yes they are newly hatched Brine Shrimp, a baby seahorse can eat up to 1,000 a day so they needa fair amount.

The only sehorses you'll be able to keep in a tank like what you've got are Dwarf Seahorses, I belive they are pretty difficult to keep even for expirianced Marine Fishkeepers. They are also quite hard to come by, so if you've not kept marine before and don't have any expirience with seahorses anyone you find selling them may be reluctant to sell them to you.

If you are interested in keeping seahorses then you'll need about 100ltr tank minimum for a pair of Kuda or Reidi. If you get true tank bred ones, the adults aren't that difficult to keep so long as you keep the water quality good and feed them enough.

Very nice pictures/tank King4aday!! I guess you inject co2? I did for a while but got bored with it and now seeing what I can get to survive on the liquid co2 stuff and having some good and bad results so far.

Sorry, not been keeping up with this thread.

No co2 or ferts in this tank at all, just whatever the plants can get from the soil substrate and decomposing leaves I add for the critters to feed on.

I highly doubt I can go near them yet then. Im barely able to keep a freshwater tank steady!

Jesus that fish is beautiful! Bet that set you back a bit........

£25... the hardest part is keeping them alive apparently. They eat little bugs about 1-2mm in size called Copepods. According to everyone on the internet these fish will eat thousands in a week and they slowly starve unless you buy pods to put in your tank. A year old tank is supoosedly required for one to survive.

Mine however eats brineshrimp and mysis so he's getting to be quite a porker. Put him in my 4 month old tank and he's doing great. He was quite shy at first but isn't too bothered by people any more so it's quite nice to see him up close in the evening and at dinnertime.
