The Big WWE Wrestling Thread

Wasn't the plan for it to be Show Vs Shaq? I've not been watching WWE recently though.

Also, the idea of DX screwing 'Taker out of the streak is just terrible!

I agree, but surely it's better than HBK screwing HHH out of the win? That's so obvious

Because 'Taker can barely work anymore. All that crap HHH has been saying about him being old and war-torn is true. He's had several surgeries since last WM with HHH and is finding it harder every year to put out a good performance. It's why he only wrestles once per year now, WWE are trying to milk as much WM's out of him as possible and his body can't take it anymore.

'Taker wouldn't be able to hang with the Rock's intensity these days, so it would be kinda sad to watch. But the Rock-Cena thing stems out of each generations biggest star going head to head (Rock - Attitude Era, Cena - PG Era). WWE just saw dollar signs and I have to admit, it's a good idea.

Rock destroys him in seconds as for wrestling ability and entertainment so it'll be interesting to see if Cena brings anything new to the table. Plus, when Dwayne said he's back for good, he really did mean it, but not full time. He will be wrestling at WM29 next year also.

Meh WWE-PG is crap anyways, if they had any sense about them, they'd make Cena/Rock a first blood match and Taker/HHH a buried alive match

TNA might be the "B-rated" wrestling show but at least they still have hardcore matches

Whoever said a DX reunion, thats a great idea, but Chyna and Gunn won't come back, X-Pac is still drugged up and Road Dogg is a backstage guy now

Thing is tho, HHH v Taker is going to be mad, because both are super super pros. How will Rock v Cena be able to compare following Hell in a cell with those two?

1 things for sure, WM is going to be the best ever this year imo

wwe have had a habit of not having Taker's show stealing matches close the show and tbh looking at the matches that have followed him you have to wonder why like last year ending with Rock v Miz :o

That said though they'll be enough buzz about Rock v Cena that people will be into it regardless of what's gone on before. I'm personally hoping for Jericho v Punk to steal the show though especially as they'll probably be given a rather early slot in the card.

HBK wont be screwing anyone he's simply been added to give the match that extra little something (like it needed it)

Like Kimi said though this has the potential to be the best Mania in years

But just adding him into the match and not have him change anything in the match would be a waste of time, either way he'll change the outcome of the match, even if it's just Taker ducking a sweet chin and hitting HHH instead

Rock brought me back last year mate, been watching on and off since, mainly just when The Rocks on tbh tho

WWE PG doesn't really have many guys like they used to, Taker, HHH, Austin, Rock, Jericho, Mankind/Foley etc, they were all badass,

Now apart from when the old guard come back, its fairly tame, still good entertainment tho

Whats the deal with HHH now days? does he wrestle on RAW much? or just do the GM stuff

Yea i dont think they should have HBK screw Taker, that would just be lame. Let the man go 20-0

The best thing about WWE-PG is CM Punk and Jericho, the fact these guys are still in it and that their characters remain unchanged from when they started

I'm considering getting back into watching WWE...

is it worth it, as in, has it improved since a few years ago?

I hate to be 'that guy', but I have to say no, go watch Ring of Honour instead. Register free for the website and you can stream their TV show, gets updated every Thursday. Less terrible segments and more good wrestling.

And then use youtube to catch any Bryan segments from WWE.

Why though? It's not like HBK is going to come back to wrestle anytime soon so him screwing either man intentionally or otherwise would be totally pointless and lead absolutely no where

For the most part the WWE has been more good than bad for around a year now, obviously Rock v Cena has been building for that year and for the past 8 months or so it's been less Super Cena and more CM Punk as the main guy

Obviously there's still be a few crappy events in that year but there's not a wrestling promotion on earth that hits a home run every month. Regardless of what anyone else says the wwe is still the best wrestling promotion in the world, the others dont even come close.

There's been some crazy/weird booking over the past year or so but on the whole it has generally been good, with CM Punk being the highlight.

Define best. Biggest and most popular? By far. But best? Best at what? Wrestling? No. Entertaining? Arguable, but I prefer Chikara for that. How else?

If WWE was any good now, I'd actually put money on Austin doing a run in on Rock/Cena

Why

or HHH/Taker

Why?!?

Why

Why?!?

Because it would be good? better to bring back a classic, run in, Give them both a stunner and leave:

Edit: Arrive, Raise Hell, Leave

than not have Austin in it at all

Austin has history with all 3, Rock, HHH and Taker, why not bring him back and relive the glory days? screw all the PG, no hardcore matches crap, I want to see a flaming table (I know thats more Dudleys style) on something else other than TNA and JCW!

Mainly their story telling. I watch TNA from time to time and the promo's are just horrendous and doesn't make me want to see what happens next in an angle whatsoever. Maybe I'm a fanboi I dont know but when I watch wwe more often than not I want to see where an angle goes or how it ends come the end of the month and the ppv.

At the start of the year I look forward to the uncertainty of who's going to win the Royal Rumble, at this years Mania I look forward to the uncertainty of who's going to win the HITC match, who's going to win out of Cena or Rock, who's going to win out of Bryan and Sheamus, there's not another wrestling promotion in the world that draws me in like that.

The actual in ring work of some of the other promotions may top that of the wwe but then the wwe is far stricter on what it allows their performers to do in the ring in light of injuries down the years and the whole concussion/Chris Benoit episode. It might not be what some viewers want to see but it's a responsible approach from the wwe and I can still enjoy a classic wrestling match between CM Punk and Daniel Bryan every bit as much as the old school attitude era chair spots etc.

It all depends on what you're after but wrestling to me has always been a glorified soap opera and as such the story telling is a massive part of what makes a wrestling promotion what it is.

Whats the story with the concussion/Chris Benoit episode you mention Tom84?

Does anyone know why did the WWE tame down its show from the Attitude era?

Well Benoit killed his wife and son before killing himself didn't he, autopsy results then showed his brain was all messed up which led to questions over the concussions wrestlers today endure hence why no one take chair shots to the head anymore.

As for the PG route it's all about money and appealing to kids. tbf The Rock is hardly abiding by that and the wwe have got a lot more gritty over the past 8 months but then that may just be due to CM Punk being the main guy rather than Super Cena.

Well, it showed he had the brain of a 90 year old alzheimer's patient, so he wasn't the man we all knew him as when he did what he did. That's why I don't blame him for it. You can't blame someone when the person is already lost. It's like blaming a car for killing someone with no driver behind the wheel.
