GAME lose another supplier

the Wii U wont save them, if they were around i doubt Nintendo would even supply them with the console.

they cant simply shut down stores are most are under contract agreements.

True about Nintendo, they've already pulled Mario Party 9 and maybe everything after. There are ways out of a contract. But it would probably mean GAME going bust with a new company taking over straight away.

I don't think it's new games as such, I believe it to be 'second hand' titles, but they might be using dirty tactics to make 'new' titles second hand.

Ah okay.

I do feel bad for the people who work there though, a few of the guys / girls in my local branch are really cool. having said that I ain't seen them around in ages, since I rarely visit the store (and even rarer to buy anything).

They also cant stop paying supplliers but if the above is true about reassigning new games as second hand to move/maximise profits elsewhere I doubt lease contracts are much different - only thing is saving money is harder than making it short-term...
GMG share price is up (7.26%‎) today, why? Hopes of a buyout?
No doubt it wont be by close of play :p

ps3ud0

Feel bad for all of the store staff - especially for the ones that I know (one of which has just had a kid with his other half) but I could not give a flying **** about anyone from regional manager and above - all cold hearted, greedy people!

I know they dont have to price match but I went into Game its literally next to a HMV... HMV selling a Vita wifi with Fifa or Uncharted for 229 iirc... Game sell Vita wifi with Fifa 249... now I know both have their own reward points, but I said to him... look im in here now, wont you even match what HMV is as ive got the cash to buy the console... said no.

Fair enough if thats policy but thats just alienating a customer, losing a sale (+ more) he never asked if I was going to get a memory card or other games and I thought no wonder you lot are going under if you have a) such a strict policy and b) if its not a policy, then plebs in store who dont know how to ensure business.

Just got back from visiting the 2 Game stores in Portsmouth, spoke to the Manager about these 'sales'. There is infact a 2 day 'sprint sale' on 2nd hand Xbox 360 games today, all prices dropped and the same for 2nd hand PS3 games tomorrow. Nothing about PC Im afraid.

I asked about the Game 'siutation' at the moment and he denied any 'massive clearance sale' happening, but then, even if it was true, he's not going to tell me. He said its all internet rumour mongering and this 'sprint sale' is a 2 day sale that Game do every year. Is that true?, who knows.

With things like this, they literally happen in a second, one second the store is operating as normal and after an official phone call, the next second lots of items are having their prices slashed.

I for one will be keeping tabs on Games situation cos at the end of the day, if they do have a big clearout, Im after a bargain!

As for the prices I saw today, IMO there wasnt much to shout about, all the sale items are marked with a red price sticker, but the prices were easily higher if not the same as internet prices as far as I could tell.

Im looking for the real bargains, the 'we are closing down, sell, sell, sell' bargains!

However, one thing I was looking at was an 'official looking guy', all suited up, carrying a laptop and camera, taking pictures of inside the store, like the shelves and stuff. No lie, I wonder what he was investigating...maybe a guy from a removals company looking at how big the store furniture is and what size lorry will be needed to ship everything away when they close.....you never know peeps, you never know....
