*** The Official iPad (Early 2012) Thread ***

Seriously? That's annoying if true.

It's not as simple as that from what I understand

It's to do with the 4G band range used, the one's in the new Ipads are configured for the american bands, and one's being touted for England are going to be different apparently. So without having a concrete base of 4G already in place, Apple haven't been able to create a product tailored to our future demand.

I blame the slow implementation of 4G from our government, rather than Apple themselves.

Anybody have any experience with HSPDA+ and streaming Sky Go? :P I'm wanting to use my Ipad on the go from time to time to watch the F1 or Football when travelling, for instance when i got to Edinburgh on the 13 April.

Sky Go on the iPad works really well. I've watched Monday night football on the train home. I use a 3 PAYG MiFi which only gets HSPDA as its the older model but the quality was very good.

Ahh good to hear, i've opted for the 4G version. I'd rather just have it all encased rather than deal with dongles.

A big selling point for me in choosing the Ipad over an Android tablet was the Sky Go and Sky Sports F1 app implementation, it appear to be far more optimized and at a greater standard.

As for which courier, I just picked the orange one as a default, I can always pick up another Sim later shall I choose to try a different courier based on performance.

Have you seen anybody game on an iPad in public? I tried to play a motocross game on the train the other day, you just look stupid, it's far to big for proper gaming

Agree,

I'm not a heavy gamer, but I don't see the appeal of an Ipad as 'geared' towards gaming by anybody. you can have the addictive mini games like angry birds, cut the rope etc which will pass time. but that's not really gaming as per an Xbox or Playstation.

I can't see Apple trying to push it as Mobile Gaming, the Ipad is a High End Media Device capable of Internet browsing, true HD video, books/comics, photo and work related apps.

They don't even acknowledge it as a 'tablet'

I've seen plenty of people on the Tube and train playing games on their iPad. The thing for me is, that I don't games that have a controller GUI on screen - it's ham fisted and a square-peg-round-hole type thing. Touch-based games should be a little more clever w/regards to controls.

Still all over the place on ordering one, I generally use my iPad1 for general browsing, a few games etc.. if I had an iPad2 I wouldn't be goiing to think about this, but I really want one with a camera on it for facetime and just that the iPad 1 is occasioanlly abit sluggish at certain things, half tempted to get a now lower price 2, or spend the extra £100 for a 3? :o

(Already have a £220 offer for my iPad 1 16GB WiFi which is why I am even thinking about it)

Spend the extra, why not.

And sell sell sell that iPad 1!

The simple fact is that gaming on iOS is the biggest money maker.

Games alone represent 17.5% of the total App Store. The next closest being iBooks at 10%.

15 of the top 25 paid apps are currently games - Apple know this and that's way there was such a focus at the iPad conference on gaming. Having big names like Epic and Namco there was to send a message.
