*** The Official iPad (Early 2012) Thread ***

I was thinking the same, all Dixons Retail places still have them in stock my area or maybe Apple did make enough to go round.

So many people bought ipad2's for xmas and not everyone follows ocuk's upgrade path every year :D

I think it was to be expected that this wouldn't sell as well initially. I think people actually need to see the screen in a shop rather than a few internet pictures to make up their minds if they are blown away by the screen or not.

A question, my wife has an ipad 1 that I use. I have a few games on it with progress I don't want to lose. If I set up another pad can I sync across those games and still have them on both pads?

I honestly think the new iPad not a sell out or as popular as iPad 2 was
The iPad2 is a now a very solid and compelling buy at £329, and when I bought one for my mother a couple of months ago I was highly impressed by the clever optimisation for 1024x768. The screen is excellent and I doubt many "normal" people (the iPad's main market once the geeks have stopped cluttering up the streets with their pointless queues) will see the need to upgrade or even spend the extra £70 if starting from scratch.

I'm probably in the market for a 3 eventually, because I was a slide film enthusiast for many years, and I think the 3's high density screen will probably make the perfect "slide viewer", turning all my digital photos into something I genuinely want to look at. Otherwise I too would be in the market for a 2.

However for the time being I'm in the market for nothing. I broke my "no early adopting!" rule for the 2500k release, and that motherboard mess reminded me that patience is a virtue. :-) I plan to give Apple three months to sort out any early teething problems (which we'll probably never know about).

PS Of course I still think they'll sell a ridiculous number of 3's, but there's no compelling reason to jump from a 2, unlike with the 1 to 2 transition. And the 2 is their main weapon against the competition. Win8 tablets will never hit that kind of price point, and Apple shares will probably benefit while MS are taken to the (window) cleaners.

We won't know until Apple announce sales figures but this the per ordering of the iPad must have helped reduce some of the in store demand.

The pre orders didn't run out anywhere near as quickly as I expected. The iPad 2 first order, that Thursday night/Friday morning, ran out within mins.

I know its still early days yet, but has anyone noticed their ipad 3 battery draining really fast?. it took an age to charge (as expected with the bigger battery and previous reports etc). but this morning i unplugged it from 100%, played the updated infinity blade 2 for about 15 mins and when i exited it, my battery was at 89% ?!

now i can understand a resource heavy game taking a toll on the battery but isnt that a bit extreme? or am i just off on one this morning lol.

It will take a few charges for the battery to settle down. I wouldn't worry just yet. I'm used to an ipad taking ages to charge because I charge an ipad 1 with a phone charger :D

Apple did say that they had made a huge push to get as many out in-time as possible - possible that they did a good enough job. Then again, 2 to 3 doesn't seem like as much of a leap as 1 to 2 did, so I could understand if demand was lower.

What was the jump between 1 and 2? Wasn't it just a bit of a faster processor and a bit thinner? For me, the high res display is what will sell it to me.

For those that have received theirs, do you think it running hot is going to be a problem? Especially sitting outside in the summer?

The screen is an absolute killer, no heat or quality issues at all. Some great app quality, battery life looks good. I’m loving it.

Loving mine so far, screen looks great, mice recognition works fairly well, just want to get a screen protector and some kind of hard/portfolio case for it, in terms of speed it is,mobviously light years aheadbofnmy ipad1, which is sitting next to me looking disappointed! :(

Is anyone else missing the personal hotspot feature?

Using a giffgaff SIM in mine but the hotspot feature just isn't there in the settings :(

EDIT: Ah, apparently it's not enabled for giffgaff SIM cards - oh well no biggie.
