**ATI RADEON 7800 SERIES NOW AVAILABLE!!**

TBH it looks like the 78XX series is a paper launch, I can't see anywhere that actually has stock coming before the end of the month. So more cards could be listed by then.

found the cards up for pre order on another site which ill not mention so ill sit tight and see what happens before the release as i want to give my hard earned cash to overclockers :D

So then, when will the 6950 fall in price gibbo? :D

Absolutely no point keeping them at their current prices when you can get a 7850 for about £20-25 cheaper, which performs pretty much the same or better in some games and is the better card overall.

The Trouble with AMD now is, they have had a flop of a launch with Bulldozer so need to recoup the dev costs, I can't see why they would inflate pricing otherwise unless 28nm yields are very poor?

i think theve priced them on account of kepler being released shortly,id expect to see prices drop once nvidia cards come out

still dont know which is the best to go for 7850 or 7870? coming from 5870,the low power draw is what im after

anyone know if the 7850 beats 5870?

did everyone miss this comment from Gibbo I see no questions on it ? ;)

Though I feel NVIDIA will hold the 570 price where it is, 580 is now EOL and is a good bargain whilst they are available and 680 shall be here in just a few days time at similar to 7970 pricing.

theres no way a 680 is goina change any of these prices, or any amd card, probably

ya I dont see it either; unless it changes the amd prices of their top 2 cards ... but thats a maybe ... I mean if nvda came out with a whole line right now sure ... wish I just knew what nvda is going to bring to the table because I could get a nice price back in the states on a amd card (but need to order today).

At current pricing, no point getting a 7870 over the 7950.

These cards should be under £250

There should be almost £100 price difference between the 7870 and the 7950.

Erm.... OK

So I can upgrade my 5850 to a 7850 and then play BF3@1080p at 32fps vs my 5850s 30.7fps (energy saving I hear people saying, woohoo a whole 21watts during and only in game playing time)

Are AMD taking the ****, this card is more than 2 years newer than my 5850.

Fair enough if I go super high-res eyefinity my 5850 will get killed, but if I was running eyefinity I certainly would not be looking at a 7850.

Looking at pricing again - I think they are about right really. I got my 5850 not long after launch from here and it cost me £210.99, that was on a special offer as well I think. So considering you can get a 7850 for £200 its not much of an issue (extra vram and extra FPS over the 5850).

Given that there is so little difference between a GTX 570 and the 7870 (based on the BF3 benchmark from Anandtech), I think AMD are off the mark with their pricing.

You're paying a premium for a brand new card though, so I would expect to see a few quid get shaved off the prices over the coming months.

Yes agreed compared to what is available in the market currently pricing is off but compared to previous generation cards it is on the same level.

Not really, as the 5850 was a top end card when it launched, they were the equiv of an X9XX card now, the 7870 would be akin to the 5770 type cards released in that gen.

The 5770 replaced the 4870 (previous gen's top end, $299 launch price) with pretty similar performance, but lower price point, less power draw, and less heat. RRP @ Launch $159 (-$140 from previous gen)

The 6870 replaced the 5870 (previous gen's top end, $379 launch price) with pretty similar performance, but lower price point, less power draw, and less heat. RRP @ Launch $239 (-$140 from previous gen)

As such the pricing is actually rather off.

The 7870 ($349 launch price) should replace the 6970 ($369 launch price) but at a lower price point, which it isn't, it's actually more expensive (than current 69XX card prices), in fact it's pretty much identical to the 6970 launch price... If AMD had followed their pattern from the previous two generations the 7870 should have been 369 - 140 = $229 at launch, which would have been £145 + VAT = ~£175.

If you have problems understanding why AMD are charging gold prices for their cards then take a look at this. This is their share values over the past year, noting October and November. That was when Poodozer released.

That's why they are extracting the urine.
