**ATI RADEON 7800 SERIES NOW AVAILABLE!!**

Launch Prices (US$ used as the currency becuase it has remained stable).

6850 @ $179 vs 7850 @ $249
6870 @ $239 vs 7870 @ $349

Similar base PCB, 7800's have smaller die but more VRAM. 45% mark up.

Funny how Apple + Samsung + Motorola can build faster, better featured products for successive generation (40nm to 28nm) without raising prices, yet AMD+NV have to add 45-50% to everything. Blatant manipulation of market pricing or what?

That leaves one massive gap between the 7770 and the 7850. Either more cards will be released to cover the gap or the price will come down of the 7850.

I was shocked at 7770 and 7750 prices when they launched and have been waiting for them to drop since they offer less performances at a higher cost to the card they replace.

The 7850/70s seem to be going down the same route.

We know there are struggles with supply due to 28nm production issues, didnt I read they were stopping production for 2 weeks? Maybe the prices are just reflecting that until supply picks up?

If you have problems understanding why AMD are charging gold prices for their cards then take a look at this. This is their share values over the past year, noting October and November. That was when Poodozer released.

That's why they are extracting the urine.

Well yes they are a business. The purpose of a business is to make a profit!

AMD and nvidia can **** off until they price things reasonably, im sticking with my more than 2 year old 5850.
If Nvidia price accordingly to the new gen cards of AMD, then I would say AMD is the more gulity one for setting the bars so high...not the performance, but the price.

We seen what happen the the price of GTX480 during that gen...it quickly dropped from over £4xx down to £3xx because of 5850/5870 was offering great performance at reasonable price. Now AMD charging ridiculous high prices, with quite a few new gen cards offering last year performance at last year's price...the two companies are basically in bed with each other scheming on how to rip off the customers more.

Think I will stick with my 4870X2 for that little bit longer. Was hoping to get a 7870 but at that price? Bit much. Then again, we'll see as time goes on. If prices do drop or OcUK get their version, then I will think about it.

No thanks. Paid £180 for my GTX570 (admittedly second hand, but even new they're around £225) and might have been tempted at the lower noise and power consumption of these.

But AMD can cram it somewhere at that price.

Prices are to high, HD 79XX are the only well priced card from the 7 series as they launched cheaper than Nvidia's alternatives with better performance. The rest are the opposite though? Maybe they only want to sell the high end :p

Despite all the yapping about pricing here, everyone here will still buy them because they want them

My corner shop is a rip-off but there is always a queue... It is what it is

Nope, I will not, it would be the definition of pointless. I also do not buy from corner shops, I leave that to the plebs.
