What film did you watch last night?

Indeed! I really enjoyed it! I thought it was very 'Tintin' if that makes sense, bought back so many memories.

I really thought Jamie Bell nailed the voice too, loved the Thompsons!
Yeah I thought it was spot on. I was a bit worried that Spielberg wouldn't get it right but he sure did. :)

The Killing (1956)
Great Tarantino-like film by Stanley Kubrick. Its amazing how little this film has aged, the characters and their problems might as well be taken from some 2008 movie. Really recommended! 9/10 for its genre.

Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring.

I haven't watched this in years. Watched it on Blu Ray with my new speakers, which while pretty low end certainly have enough oomph to make an impression.

I've read the book recently, and it's fair to say that the films are massively different, but I don't see that as a bad thing. I don't see that you could have done a better job of adapting the source material in a watchable way.

I've just watched Jeff Nichol's fantastic 'Take Shelter'. I hadn't heard of the film until last night, when I went on a bit of a dig for 'post-apocalyptic' films. The Roger Ebert review checked out (4/4*) so I gave it a watch.

I can usually tell from the first few seconds if I am 'feeling' the film, and I certainly had a good feeling about this from the start. They drip-feed you the really juicy stuff throughout the film, but you never feel like they are avoiding or trying to fill the plot with fluff. I got a really good Jacob's Ladder vibe from Take Shelter, trying to work out what is real and imagination is something I find fascinating in films.

This is independent film of a very high quality, i'm kinda disappointed it didn't make bigger tracks in theatres. Still, I wouldn't be suprised if this became a indie classic.

Thanks watched Take Shelter based on your review...... 9/10 brilliant movie. Slow moving but compelling to watch. Great acting throughout and glad to see it deservedly picked up some awards.

Die hard 2 great film

Love it :)

I watched Taxi Driver the other night and thought it was worth an 8/10.

Was weird seeing him playing a character different from what he plays now.

Saw Man on the ledge aswell and it was a good watch worth 7/10 but pretty much because I like phonebooth/oceans style movies and this felt like a combination of them.

Saw The Devil Inside last week there and thought it was pretty cool but trailer made it out scarier and it ended too quickly imo. 5/10 :(

Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol. Watched it at work but it felt really long for me. Usual sort of gadgets and you have to ignore some of the "No way that would ever happen" thoughts behind and just enjoy it for what it is. Going to be another one going by the ending? 6/10 maybe?

I thought early impressions of it were positive:

I'm being hammered over on AVforums for my views on the film, apparently it's the best thing since sliced bread  It just wasn't scary, wasn't funny, and the story was just stupid, certainly not original in any way.

Hunger games was ok. I gave it a 7. Definitely not a cult classic by any stretch or original. But it was well executed and the acting and production was of a high enough standard. You can see they spent a fair amount of money on it. But overall yea, does not live up to the hype.

oh sorry thought you were talking about hunger games you were talking about cabin in the woods.
