*** The official HTC One X thread ***

Had my first lock when trying to answer a call this morning. Zero issues before the update yesterday so I'm assuming the update might have broke something. Looking in the log it seemed to be associated with the power managment and coming out of sleep.

I am also seeing a worse battery life which I think is associated with the WI-FI. From the battery usage WI-FI seems to stay on when the phone is idle. I thought it just switched the WI-FI on when collecting Emails?

So much for the update, that will teach me!

If you go into the Advanced WiFi settings, there is a setting to Keep Wi-Fi on during sleep. I have this set to Never but will use my data allowance when sleeping. Also below it, there is Best Wi-Fi performance option, I have this off.

I also noticed since the update yesterday, my screen brightness came off automatic and was on full!

It was on Always ( default ) but from my Desire days I can always remember waking the phone up and seeing the wireless connect. I'm pretty sure it did this before the update. Like you suggested I did switch it to never after I noticed the Wi-Fi usage. Which seem to sort the issue. Wi-Fi prerformance is off.

I really like Chrome, it needs a bit of work but Google are heading down the right path with it (the way it handles text, etc).

Waht's the ebst way to confirm this flicker problem, i.e. which screen settings and which image best show it up?

I collect mine on Saturday and want to check!

Strange issue here - every so often when i go to task manager, google maps is running (the screen preview is blank though).

I swipe it off to close it but it keeps re-appearing.

Hmm
Might be time to upgrade my old Motorola Atrix, which I love by the way!
Logged onto my t-mobile account and I can get this as a 12 month upgrade for £170
Im not interested in the Galaxy 3 as I had a Galaxy and sold it on, to thin and light, the Atrix has a bit of weight to it that I like

Just how bad is the battery life on this?
Does it come with an unlocked boot loader so I can put cyanagen mod on :-)

In the meantime off to do more research...

It's probably lattitude / gmaps location service for other apps.

Hmm no update on my tmobile One X...anyone else on a tmo One X had their update yet??...ive tried searching for one via the phone but nothing yet.

Updated yesterday :)

Thanks guess ill just to wait a bit for the update to come through.

Now i realise why i dont like Android, last night was downloading some apps that i need...i have them on my iphone4 but on Android most of them are available but one game i love playing is plants vs zombies...helps pass the time when im going to and from work. Anyhow its available but not compatible with the device, which is the One X :(...how long does it normally take for Android devs to update their apps so that they work with the latest handsets??.

Also a bit annoyed that my second fave game, jetball isnt even available on Android...they have a poxy fan app for it which isnt the game. Was kinda hoping that would be on Android by now but seems like its an iOS app at the moment...another game that helps pass the time when im going to and from work...can only hope the dev for the game decides to port it over to Android. Unless someone can recommend another similar free or paid app thats like jetball??.

Just an update from my earlier post on battery. It seems to have improved very slightly since updating here's what I had left at the end of the day.

12+-+1
12+-+1

Ignore the two different battery percentages as it seems the phone takes a min to calculate it then it suddenly drops off. I have 69% battery left with a screen on time of 35mins which was me just checking texts and emails etc.

Mine's going back to P4U tomorrow for a straight swap. I swear the flickering problem is getting worse.

For anyone who wants to check if they've got it, make sure you're on auto brightness or full brightness, go to the battery use screen daz has screenshotted above and press on the graph. This will open out into a full page graph of mainly grey. On my screen said grey is strobing like an old CRT.
