I wasn't :P. Still, what is there to spoil? The silhouette of Diablo is a give away to how he gets back when you consider the parents of one of the characters. The recent clip posted by Blizzard also hinted at what's going to happen in game (and it's not like it's unprecedented - remember Izual?). Lastly, the story is fairly simple - Azmodan and Belial want a piece of Diablo's cake, but as the case always is with such aspirations, get outplayed which allows the LoT do what he always planned to do - conquer the High Heavens. Enter heroes to stop his nefarious plan, kill hordes of monsters and earn insurmountable treasures in the process.
Blizzard have told us clearly not to expect sudden twists in the story. The premise is simple - go in, stop the bad guy, get loot. End of story. Sure, the details of the story remain obscured but even without them we can pretty much guess the ending (hint: no Diablo game had a truly happy ending).
All this I got from a bunch of screen shots posted by Blizzard, the story told so far in D1/D2 and the animated short.

i been playing D1/D2 since they came out i defiantly know how to connect these dots lol.

i'm just saying blizzard LIE (in good fun,cow level remember? :p), so i'm not gunna dismiss or accept anything as fact untill i see it or not, in game :D

but i do like a bit of guess work at what we think may go down, and i agree some of the things seem obvious but again i wouldn't mistake it for fact :p

Knowing there is a barbarian and that he has a skill called whirlwind isn't a spoiler. Knowing what the story is is quite a different matter entirely.

I know what a spoiler is whats the issue when people are tagging them as spoilers so that the people who dont want to read it dont; but those who do want to can ?

Wasn't directing that statement at you, it was more towards others who are sensitive about such things.

Because if you want to have a massive discussion about a spoiler topic its far easier to create a new thread for them instead of putting everything in spoiler tags for 20 posts?

Ahhh so now its about whats easier for the people making the posts ? If that was the case though and those people wanted it easier then it should be them whose complaning about themselves not been able to talk openly in the thread about the story, items etc.

This is not the case this is a bunch of people moaning about something which only would affect them if they chose to allow it to. I.e clicking on the spoiler.

Easiest problem solver those who dont want to read spoilers dont click on them in the first place.

Yup you mean just like creating a whole new thread for a game which allready has one wouldnt do the same thing ?

Ill take that response as you cannot think of anything of worth to say against what I said though.

I love how 4play has been a member since 2009 but hasn't noticed this is the way it's done for nearly every major game release.

Also he seems to be ignoring all the negative points people are raising, maybe because he realises he doesn't have a leg to stand on.

What exactly am I ignoring ? People have gripes with spoilers in the thread but there are none unless you click on the tag to display them.

So because its been done that way in other games it has to work this way with this one too ? Seems stupid to me. All im sick of seeing is people moaning abot spoliers when they are in control of seeing them or not. They are not on view for everyone only those who wish to see them by clicking on them. So whats the issue ?

As has been explained, it clutters up the thread and makes it difficult to read for people who don't want spoilers and people who do.

If you do want spoilers then you get large numbers of posts where you have to click the little spoiler button post on every one to read what has been said, hardly smooth reading.

If you don't want spoilers then you have the useful posts separated by large numbers of blank spoiler posts, again hardly smooth reading.

With two threads you have one for spoilers and one for other (technical help, beginners help etc) Both parties are happy and you can dip into the spoilers thread when you've finished the story (or earlier if you wish) without having to click to view every post.

It's the same reason we have a multiplayer thread, there's no reason it can't be in here but it clutters it up and makes it harder to get questions answered etc, we might even have a trading thread if it's needed.

I do agree with the clutter to an extent but its hardly smooth reading on a forum anyways. Its not like where reading one fluid story on here to begin with.

The thread is there for people to discuss whatever they would like between each other whether that be spoilers or not. Like I said earlier otherwise the spoiler tag would not be available in the first place.
