Thing that makes me laugh is all teh people getting hacked say I never had an Authenticator but I know loads of people that do and have been hacked yet we see none of it.

It's really difficult because people do lie on forums to make themselves look different from having the best password/protection to a highly secured PC, no one want sto be seen as an idiot.

The main point is have an authenticator and sms alert, change your password to something difficult and don't follow any spam or links but yet people still do even after all this time.

The only reasons for the RMAH is so they can get commission for doing nothing whilst at the same time stopping a bunch of those 3rd party sites.

It's a cashcow, nothing more really.

When they announced D3, I remember it was an interview or info session, can't quote but it was along the lines: gold farming and selling is a big thing in WoW and we want to make it less attractive in D3 with a real money AH.

As I remember

I finished normal mode few days ago and started playing nightmare last night.

I've been equipped my monk dex. gears, omg he's taking everything down with ease.

Are people getting hacked with authenticator?

Apparently it makes no difference, the 'hacker' just needs to be in the same game as you and he can duplicate the session id of that game or character, and simply take all your stuff. No passwords or anything needed. I wouldn't play public games for a while, should that be correct.

This is worrying. Might avoid the public games until this is resolved

I've seen several people saying to save putting money into crafting and just buy items from the AH...but isnt that basically twinking your character? especially bad if its your first character!

Where's the fun in just buying all the best equipment every 5 levels or whatever?

My feelings exactly! I had the misfortune to (ab)use the Titan Quest vault and it completely ruined the game for me!

Roughly 70% of the fun of this game is the drops - take that away and it turn's into a very ordinary game!

that's 1 theory going around (and sorting of spiralling away from original theory into some rather unbelievable stuff) whereas blizzard and come out and said that every single compromised account is due to someone logging in with a username and password.

Well they are not going to come out and tell everyone that it is something wrong with their servers and public games are they?

They will always say it is someone elses fault, as it then takes the blame away from them.

I had my WoW account hacked, different password and secret answer than anything i normally use and i don't click links in emails or visit dodgy sites. I just hadn't logged in game for more than a year and one day got an email telling me my password had changed.

I've put an authenticator on my account now and all is fine, something is obviously up their end. It seems the public game theory could be correct, although i guess we will never know.

Have to agree with this. Blizzard also saying that they have not had any reports of someone with an Authenticator being hacked. I suppose they could be telling porkies, but I think it's more likely the people who have been hacked, don't have one and don't want to look silly on the forums.

Any chance you could show me what items you are using.

Trying to remember what my dps was before I logged off last night, think it was about 2.8k dps, so mile away from your dps.

Not sure If there's a way of actually linking items, but I did have a screenshot of what i was wearing. Doesn't give details though.

Add Lint#2953 and i can always join a game if you want to check closer. I'm always on the look out for ways of improving gear/spec. I just find using snares and roots better to survive.
Friends i've been grouped with get annoyed that i'm always the last alive kiting champion mobs all over the place. :)

the fallout from that will be much better than if they directly lie about it and it turns out to be the case

It wouldn't be the first time a games company has put their foot in it and been seen in a bad light.

In the end who will know, unless something gets leaked from their offices then we will never know if it is public games or not. If it is they will be working round the clock to try and fix it as to try and sweep this under the carpet as quickly as possible.

at the end of the day, I've been playing in public games since the day after launch, on EU and US servers and haven't been hacked. I went from halfway into A1 to start of A4 in one session with my game open to the public, where about 40 odd players came and went. If it were as simple as the theories are suggesting it is, I'm certain my account would have been hacked.

Alternatively, a large amount of people got scammed, maybe pre-beta, signing up to some fansite or another that was happily storing the registered passwords and emails and hoping their bnet details were the same, and then trying them all in one afternoon.

Gah, maintenance again!

To confirm D3 does run on: (1960x1200 or 1080)

core2duo @ 2.9ghz
2 gig ram
ati x1900

Working with lowest detail and mininal slowdown. I do get graphics glitches occasionally, but changing areas clears them. I have a new graphics card and 2gb ram coming, so hopefully can ramp up the settings!
