Tegra 3 is really not a great example of Quad core/next gen chip - single channel memory is it's downfall and so is HTC's software optimsation. I mean look at the difference in speed and smoothness with the S3 which has lower clocked cores.

And some synthetic benchmarks are really rubbish at painting a true picture. I have a Note here and it's fast and smooth on GB - ICS will be a nice boost.

Twice as many core's yes - but I see quad cores as a gimmick and I bet if you lost 2 cores there would be next to know difference in real life performance.

Software optimisation is soo crucial - I mean just look at how smooth the ip4 still is with its ancient hardware.

I agree with a lot of what you've said, apart from quad core being a gimmick. Day to day right now, no you can't tell, but I talked about this already ^^

if it doesnt void the warrantee then thats the way to go but i was reffering to official ICS being implemented as upgrade OTA starting in germany then the world step by step.

Reset the counter and there's no way of Samsung knowing - Samsung are quite good either way as they have repaired rooted phones in the past.
 
Anyone got any demanding games on their One X's ? I'm playing the Sims Free play and my handset (with the plastic case) is getting rather hot. The glass and back and hot to the touch after about 15 mins of play or so.

Can someone who has tried it comment on whether this is normal??

Given that in some benchmarks the One X comes behind the S2 and the note is higher clocked if the tegra chip had 2 cores it would be out classes I think.

But the whole quadcore thing isnt really that amazing, the s4 chip is the future, it offers more speed in the LTE versions of the One X, and better battery which was the many reason and thinking behind theres terga chips so on that note I think there really aint that great. However that being said the difference in real life is next to nothing between any nice dual core phone from 2011 or anything to come for awhile. With all fanboyism aside you would really notice no difference between a s2, 4s, OneX/S and so on.

The Note 2 isn't 10.1 inch, you're just thinking of the Note tablet version. The successor to the Galaxy Note hasn't been announced yet.

There's talk of a Razr HD in the pipeline I read the other day. A google search will drag something up. HornyRhino - the Razr looks good with large battery and ICS ...... promised :confused: If you want ICS buy something with it already on maybe? Motorola support outside the the US at best is rubbish.
 
yes just seen the razor HD :) looks nice as i like the razzor maxx look so maybe hold off a little longer see what else comes out over june/july...time will tell.

well it seem s that all the complaints here saying tegra 3 isnt much good has fell on deaf ears as the line up for the year shows its the most common :)

It's called being both cheap and the only quad-core readily available (unlikely we'll see Samsung sell the Exynos to anyone else anytime soon)...

Compared to it's competition it's a good choice from a marketing and sales point of view:

Snapdragon S4, quicker but 'only' dual core, plus shortages and it costs more.
Exynos '4412', quicker but only really an option for Samsung.

And that's it, the OMAP isn't available in quad core, don't think anyone has ever used the IMX chips in phones and the quad isn't readily available yet.

And how many customers will care if the experience isn't 100% smooth, all these One X owners don't seem too fussed :p
 
Has anyone noticed that on 3rd party applications, GoSms, Daillers etc don't load profile pictures?

WHY?!?! Sooooooo annoying.
 
for some reason now that I've enabled sim card lock, when I turn the screen on it comes up with incorrect pin 3 attempts left? almost all the time. I have the pattern draw lock on but now and then it comes up with this, odd.
 
Looking at getting this or the S3 some time soon. What contract has everyone got here? Three seems the best at the moment (£29 over 24mths, 500 mins, 5000 texts, unlimited data, £29 upfront cost and £75 cashback).
 
I'm not sure. The only thing to be mindful of is the 500MB data usage. Although you do get the first 3 months unlimited data.
 
Yeah I've been trying to work out how much data I use but T-Mobile don't show you in your account as it's unlimited.

I don't think I do go over 500MB though. I'm on wifi 90% of the time and never do any large downloading when not on it, so just push email and Facebook. The rare occasions when I tether my iPad would be the biggest usage.
