What film did you watch last night?

lol at spoiler being added :D I'm sure that reading 1/10 for the film might give a better idea of not watching it at all ;)

Considering it gets a 6.7 rating on IMDB that's no means a bad score. I thought it was alright, yeah it was predictable but hey, sport films are.

Goal 2 was ok but three was a monstrosity, didn't have any characters from the first two, it was so bad, that was worthy of a 1/10.

Se7en.

8/10, bordering on 9/10 for me.

Really enjoyable film, great performance by Morgan Freeman. Brad Pitt is kind've irritating at points in it I have to admit though. Kevin Spacey is immense.

Looks pretty good on blu-ray to boot! :)

The dictator - didn't expect it to be like boat and Bruno. More like Ali g, but gutted that it wasn't. That and I cant stand Anna ferris. 6/10.

Goon - pretty decent, dont think I could watch it again though. I just couldn't see anything you would gain from a rewatch. 6/10

Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End - 2/5

More pirate mayhem from Bruckheimer and co. Had they removed the first one and a half hours, it would have been quite an entertaining film. As it was though, it was far too long, and most of it was a turgid mess.

The Pact

Went to see this earlier with my girlfriend as I've been to see all the paranormal activities, Paranormal Entity, The Devil inside and every one scary movie out there.

I'd have to give it 7/10 as it does what it should and has jumpy bits. It felt, as with Paranormal Activity, as though they just put really loud creepy music to make it jumpy.

I still don't know why it was called The Pact and I got a bit confused by it at the end.

Yea it was Bluray I saw it on. I have a 5.1 system set up and it was rather good! :D

Off topic but. My reciever can do 7.1, is it worth me getting two new front speakers and relegating the current fronts to the sides?

I was thinking of doing the same as you.
I read around and the general consensus was that the extra 2 speakers make little/no difference.

well. i have 7.1 setup as in my sig but with 2 additional FW speakers. they are just some old MS surround speakers i had left over so i thought its worth a go.

using Audyssey DSX 7.1 with front width speakers really makes a difference to me. my soundstage is now massive. definitely better than THX 5.1, in my opinion. Audyssey say FW are the best speakers to add to make a 7.1 setup since your ears cannot perceive rear surround (RS) as well as front sound (FW/FH).

FH are only used for vertical sound so not that useful IMO, where FW add width to the sound and are used a lot more.

True. 7.1 is basically just a fad that rode along with the advent of HD audio streams. Any decent fronts will easily handle anything more, not that it's necessary in any sense... 5.1 is more than enough for any home system.

HD audio is a fad?

no offence but what speakers and AVR do you have? on decent speakers HD audio is more noticeable than mp3 to CD.

as ive said, i can clearly hear a difference using front width speakers but i do have around £4-5k worth of AV kit in my lounge.

sure, using crappy logitech or cheapo AV kit i bet it isnt as prominent but when you start using decent kit and have it properly calibrated it does make a difference.

if i could i would have 11.2 surround :)

Its a prequel thats meant to explain how the Alien came to be, and if im not mistaken, at the end it pops out of the big blue guy :p

that isnt an alien as we know it.

i found it weird that the 'engineers' were supposed to be the same as us (identical DNA) but the alien was very different, which kind of buggers the point of the aliens being DNA altered versions of the host. i guess we expect a a sequel to prometheus as they landed on a different planet to the planet in alien, aliens

i actually enjoyed it but the more i think about it the more frustrated i am due to the plot holes and inconsistencies. i thought the 3d was good but we saw it on an 8k projector in 3d. only 5 of us in the cinema :)

Cars 2

Pretty good, preferred it to the first, the animation in Italy and London was top notch!

That said, the plot would be pretty confusing to a kid, my gf needed me to explain it to here at the end, haha!

Iron Sky

It had a kind of 'Mars Attacks' type vibe to it. I certainly think they could have done a lot more with it, but it was still a fun watch.

Also Julia Dietze is hawt.

The Angel's Share - 7/10

I really enjoyed it. I'm a big Ken Loach fan anyway, but in particular, and as usual, the scenes about the reality of life in Glasgow for many people were the hardest hitting. The plot was pretty good too, and it was quite funny into the bargain.
