**British Armed Forces Discussion Thread**

True to some extent. People being made to cancel holidays at their financial loss because the government has failed to manage a simple contract is .... ****.

Yeah, myself of all people will not argue that it isn't ****. Only that you just have to accept and get on with it.

....just 8.5 weeks left....not that I'm counting ;)

Finally confirmed I'm on it as of parade today, lovely as we we're all going to go on leave tomorrow.

Getting the happy bus from the fatherland all the way over on wednesday as per duty rumour. Told us we are going to be able to go on leave from the op. Can't imagine the leave window being too big as we are gearing up towards winter repair.

Going to be emotional.

Feel bad for everyone being screwed around here. Pretty **** pulling loads of guys from training too, least it will make the mess nice and quiet for me :p

Joining in October so I'll miss all of this but when you say pulling people off training is that people off phase1 and phase2? Or do you mean people after that?

Should have had a contingency plan and troops on reserve for a situation like this, at least that way guys would have at least had a heads up.
i do feel bad for people getting ****** over on this.

i'm not fussed about loosing out on summer leave as i've had 2 weeks already and getting 2 weeks when this is done, however i've known i'm on this since this time last year when i was in afghan.

Should get the TA and VRs to make up the numbers.

On a different topic completely, I have received my great grandads WWII medals :D (he never claimed them, the modest sod). Now I need to mount them and frame them. No idea how, youtube is my friend!

That's really great. My wife wanted to mount mine, but I said no and put them in a box to give to my Son when he is old enough to appreciate what they mean.

I would love to have my Grandfathers medals, especially my Mums grandfather who was a codetalker in WWII, however no one knows what happened to his possessions when he died, which was before I was born.

Yeah I'm gonna lose a month at least it seems.

Since joining the raf I've been delayed at least 6 months of career progression. When I passed out of Halton there was a 4 month wait before my next phase of training due to over recruiting without pre planning properly. Then my supposed 18 months at my first post became 20 months due again to fitting people into courses.

Overall the delays cost thousands in lost pay really. Just gotta grin and bare it.

Phase 3 I think it is classed as. Not too sure what they call it. It's my last phase before becoming SAC tech.

I pass this phase in March. After 13 months. But the Olympics now makes that April/may time.

I joined up with lads who chose other trades who are now SAC Tech already.

The words I use get starred out here haha.

I enjoy the life to be honest but I often wish we were granted the same ability to contest to things as you get in civilian jobs.

Never mind the money I get now is good for a life of learning
