***The Official LG Nexus 4 Thread***

I'm a bit confused about wireless chargers. As much as I like gadgets it seems a lot to pay when I can easily just plug a cable in to charge the phone. Obviously everyone spends their own money as they see fit, but it seems a lot for a very minor bit of convenience.

Same here - when they get to £20 for a good one I'll get it.

I can see why some people would pay a high premium aswell.

I'm holding out for the Nexus one to come out - as I normally plug my phone in when I'm at my desk at home having a wireless charger that I can just plonk the N4 on to would be so handy! :D

I want one like the Touchstone, that was so damn convenient. Hopefully the price of the Official one isn't a quarter of the phone cost.

Are there any assurances that these induction chargers will work with future products? Id rather not spend £50 on each and every phone I get :p. The nexus just looks like a rather useful dock too!

The Nokia one works with any Qi standard device so as long as the standard stays the same there's no reason why not.

My two arrived today for my brother and me, very good looking phone

Took a picture with the old Nexus lighting up the back, from the old to the new

Weird from the brief google I did the Nokia Lumia Qi one doesnt work with the Nexus 4 - http://www.gottabemobile.com/2012/12/14/nexus-4-wireless-charging-qi-doesnt-always-work-video/ and http://www.gottabemobile.com/2012/11/14/lg-nexus-4-wireless-chargers/ for example...

So I wouldnt say Qi is a set standard or a given they all work with each other - so perhaps buyer beware...

I remember reading that it worked for some people and didn't work for others, it should work since it is all the same standard but it is all very weird . Google is also backing that other standard long with Starbucks and a few other players which doesn't make sense, surely you would want the standard you are using in your devices to win out.

Ya, it's like the Blu Ray - HD war all over again

Perhaps they had review models of the nexus 4 or something, some people are trying to imply that because its not WPC certified (both the nexus dock and nexus 4, while all the Nokia prodicts are) that there might be something fishy with the implementation on the Nexus products...

I dont know myself, but its a reason why Im putting off induction charging til theres an accepted standard.

EDIT: Am getting conflicting info regars the Nokia Qi charger too:
Random forum post I found said:
EDIT: The Nokia charging plate has been proven to work with the Nexus 4 but the sweet spot is very small and it charges much slower when compared to other Qi chargers. Because of this, all Nokia branded chargers are not recommended.

Yeah the Google stance is a wierd one, Motorola is behind WPC, but Google itself is behind PMA, yet the LG made nexus 4 appears to be a WPC Qi product...

Whats the chance the next nexus is a PMA product - all quite bizarre, will they just let the manufacturer decide which induction standard to use?

First day after a full overnight charge and so far happy with the battery life.

At 85% now and this includes:
5h40 on battery
40min screen time
listening to my audiobook (40min) while driving in today
10min phone call
and also some other uses.

edit: sound through *quality* headphones = amazing!!
