Aliens : Colonial Marines - FPS ( They're back ! )

It's not even the graphics tbh, they don't look that bad. It's more the scripted events where you have to watch marines get dragged away while you watch and can do nothing (never saw that before, well done there), and the awful way the aliens kind of dance around a bit so that you have time to hit them, rather than skittering across the ceiling right at you while you desperately try to bring your gun to bear :)

To be honest I'd have been happy with just an extension to AvP, since I found the play of it really good, it was just mind-blowingly short.

Gearbox have only been working on this for just over a year (they only got the official greenlight in autumn 2011) so that tells you how little work has gone into this but the graphics confirm this as a cheap licence tie-in :(

That doesn't sound right. I thought they were working on it before Rebellion's latest AVP came out, and put it on the backburner because SEGA didn't want two aliens games coming out at the same time.

thoughts?

Well this was a very old build and only TWO playable multilplayer levels, I didn't get the chance to play as the Alien either. However it felt very stiff, It was very much developed with consoles in mind and the PC as an after thought. FOV was very bad with most of the screen taken up by the gun, mouse movement also felt slow.

You could increase the mouse sensitivity but it still didn't feel right, Just ended up getting frustrated with it. Graphics wise, not bad actually certainly better than the previous Alien game we played. As for the level we played, too tight and closed in, most likely to keep players attacking/dieing because it was a gaming event but it was way too one sided.

I feel when the game is out a lot of people Just like when Farcry 3 came out will complain, especially as it's more developed towards console gamers. Could be wrong! It also depends how they work on the game after release, for some Farcry 3 is a good game at least now it is

It certainly wasn't a BAD looking game

p.s No they didn't know what controls did just as what happened with Farcry 3 at the event, first thing you saw when you sat down was an Xbox 360 controller and the mouse to one side :p

I played the MP at Eurogamer (only as marines too) a few times and enjoyed it, graphics didn't seem bad at all and playing it was fun.

Not sure whether to get the collectors edition or not though!
