***The Unofficial Samsung Galaxy S III LTE (I9305) Thread***

Hmm, look quite different to mine. I think I got rid of 3G Watchdog though as it used to drain my battery. Is that your launcher keep your phone awake?

Just did another fresh install (full wipe) and didn't install 3g watchdog - I'll see how that goes.

Is that your launcher keep your phone awake?

I used the stock Samsung launcher so I don't think it is.

As you can see - some nasty wakelocks there. Got rid of the mediascanner one I had before via full sd wipe.

I got to be honest, I thought they were pretty good. 13 hours use and no partial wakelock over 5 minutes? Have a look at mine...

(Granted, I think something's gone wrong with the Network Location, probably a reboot would fix it.)

Are kernel wakelocks not the ones that keep the phone awake when you're using it? I've only ever used partial wakelocks, which are the ones that wake your phone up when it's sleeping.

Anyway, here -

no partial wakelocks over 5 mins - but then why is my phone awake for 3hrs when my screen on time is 1.5? I only used my phone when the screen was on and I turned off all sync services.

kernal wakelocks I believe definitely influence the battery when it's supposed to be asleep.

I know this as I had a particular kernel wakelock that chewed battery - and got resolved via a battery pull for a few mins. It was in the Note1 thread.

I think it's near impossible to have an Android where nothing happens when the screen is off.

If I were you I'd be wanting to know why your launcher is waking the phone when it should be asleep.

Also, I don't think it goes into deep sleep the instant the screen is off. Let say it takes 20 seconds. If you've turned your screen on 60 times, in total, that's your phone awake for 20 minutes with the screen off. It easily builds up.

I use Latitude, so I know that's big for partial wakelocks. You do seem to have next to nothing waking it. I don't think you'll get much better than that, apart from maybe the launcher thing.

So fellas, what's everyone running now? I've been away in hospital for two weeks (just had a serious operation) just been discharged today and am catching up on everything. The bad news is that the Doctor has just limited my time on the internet for 45 mins! I can't do anything in that amount of time.

45 minutes!?!?!? That's barely enough time to... erm... nevermind.

I'm on Ripper v9 with Jkay and JB Dom. No problems with it at all. It's actually too good as I get itches to flash something new, but no reason to.

Tell me about it! The Doctors have to limit my fatigue on the brain as I just had a tumor removed from it

Thanks for the update Mate, am really glad that ripper is running well for you :)

WOW!

Sorry to hear about that stoosh but I am glad to hear everything has gone well with the operation etc. :) Hopefully you will have a speedy recovery and get some more time on the internet for some......erm..... well I better not say it on a family friendly forum! ;) :D :p

Ouchies. Glad it's all gone well though. How long do you have the restrictions for?

It was rather scary for me and my family. I wouldn't wish it on anyone, thanks for the well well wishes Mate :)

I have to slowly build up as the brain is a complicated instrument and take six months off work. On the downside I've forgotten every password excluding this forum.

Thanks Nexus I am truly touched by all your well wishes :)

I don't think my brain could handle all the excitement with what the internet brings! :p

Welcome back stoosh!

 Tumor - glad your back on your feet on the road to recovery.

Not been the same without you matey :)

After another full wipe and have nothing syncing my batterylife is back to excellent, got rid of lightflow, 3g watchdog and cpu widget.

Going to start syncing my email and see how that goes.

Yeah, I could probably have told these would cause some drain, the first two definitely. What did the CPU widget do? Show clock speed?

clock speed, batt temp and ram available. 1 x 1 widget.

I had the above 3 apps installed when I cracked 5hrs screen on time so lord know why they were draining power last time all of a sudden.

Activity Manager Launch is part of Android, Activity Manager wakelocks can be reduced by closing apps rather than just using the home button. It isn't the launcher :).

The main drains are from mdm_hsic_pm0 and fast dormancy.

mdm_hsic_pm0 is to to with network traffic, so something might be using data in the background or something.

Fast dormancy is the reason your data symbol (h+, h, 3g etc.) changes from, say, h+ during use to, say, 3g when idle. If you don't use your connection for a few seconds or whatever the network will tell the phone to go back to 3g or whatever to save power. If the network doesn't support this the phone will just sit around waiting for it. That's one reason you could be having the wakelock (disable fast dormancy if the network doesn't support it). The other reason could be to do with the first wakelock, if there's something that keeps using data in the background the phone will keep having to go back to 3g after use. To solve that problem you solve it by solving the first wakelock :).

I'll add about ActivityManager-Launch that ActivityManager handles open apps, I don't know what the launch part of it does, if it launches apps like the name would suggest then you probably have an app opening in the background when the phone's supposed to be asleep.
