Quick enquiry: what's the cheapest the N7s go (new, reputable shop)?

From memory its around

£160 - 16GB
£200 - 32GB
£240 - 32GB 3G

I got mine from Argos.
But it's worth checking hotukdeals for any current offers.

Ok, my poetic slimline case has arrived. It is a perfect fit, and feels very nice! I highly recommend it. :)

Some good news regarding my search for a data SIM. I currently have a spare SIM which is on a 24 month contract @ £15.50 a month with o2. I purchased it last May and got an S3 free with it. It includes unlimited text, very few mins and no data - but I've managed to get o2 to give me 500mb each month for free. The SIM has been sat in a spare cheap nokia phone and getting very little use, but now I will be able to use it in my N7 and I won't be paying anything extra at all. WIN WIN. :D

Anyone have anything else I can try before sending it back?

Thanks,
Eric.

Just got in from taking it back I phoned them first to see if they had stock but when I got there they didn’t have any  and won’t be getting more in stock for a while so ended up with a refund. Guy on the returns desk told me they have had a fair few of these back now with the same fault.

I don’t know if I should get another one or wait for a few months and see what else comes out.

Just ordered the docking station for mine - looking forward to having it beside my bed as my clock :D - Just need the Nexus 4 Orb to be released now :D

A question to those with the 3G version and who have a SIM inside it. I sent a message from my phone to the SIM in the N7 saying 'test' and I got the message on the N7, a little box popped up in the top corner then disappeared. Anyone know how to access the message again?

Back in stock on googles website btw. Well the 16GB Model is.

I get my pay rise kicked in tomorrow so will see whether fund allow for a gift to myself and my awesome work.

Hows the new case? Just looking at the poetic range on amazon now, hoping to order one today :)

I got one of these a while back when they were first released, it does a good job of protecting the Nexus, but you can't use any docks with it in this, and after a while it will wear the paint away on the bezel.

Also I found that if you stand it up using the front folded over, after a while it slips from close to upright, to around 40 degrees, which becomes annoying.

I've just bought a zip up cover for mine now and will be selling my case when I get the chance.

That said, if you just want a solid case to keep it in, that protects the screen and you'll basically never remove it, then it's a good choice. :)

I really like it. I will be keeping my N7 in it permanently, it offers good protection and there's no need for a screen protector. The front flap is magnetic and stays shut, when you open it, it automatically wakes up the device. The case in general is relatively slim so it doesn't add much bulk to the device.

I've only had it a day but the stand works well so far, ideal for sky go!

Update: If you have a 3G N7 and a SIM installed which has unlimited texts, just install Go SMS Pro. You can now send and receive text messages. No root required. Whatsapp doesn't appear to be compatible though.

Anyone know if there is an app that adds a power off option to the notification bar (or something similar)?

I was about to post and suggest that you do exactly that!

I haven't yet found another SMS program which can be installed without rooting, and which actually utilises the installed SIM on a 3G Nexus 7.

I wan't too keen on the default appearance, but there are a lot of alternative themes available for download, including quite a few free ones!

^ yep, the default theme is ugly, will try a few others later. I won't really be using the n7 to text but its a nice feature to have.

Well just took delivery of a 1.5TB Toshiba Stor.E Basics hard drive, partitioned it into 2x700 (one NTFS and one FAT32). Spins up just fine over the OTG cable and draws down HD video through Nexus Media Importer into BSPlayer. Very happy :)

I don't anticipate battery lasting terribly long via this method but will have to see how it holds up. Hoping to get my hands on a Nexus dock to see if it will charge through that whilst using the OTG cable.

As much as I would love to root it I can't because I need access to Sky Go.
