Almost everything is made of plastic these days. Not like the good old days of having a whole army comprising of metal figures

I believe so, yeah. Not had any issues with any pieces though, looks quite well made. You'd hope so too for £28! Got a bit of tidying up to do where the glue has over run, will just carefully scrap it off with a craft knife I think.

Gooner, I tend to remember (never really got in to it when I was younger) that some of the metal figures would have bent guns etc. I remember having a necron when it first game out (came 'free' with that magazine they used to make?) and his weapon was a bit banana shaped towards the end. You tend not to get that with plastic, and it's easier to repair.

You can't fault the build quality and level of detail on the plastic models these days, I have to admit. I just feel the price you pay for something that is plastic is extortionate. Where you could have bought for example, 5 metal terminators for £15 now you pay £15? for 5 plastic ones.

Yes but I'd imagine even if they still made metal ones now, they'd be a lot more expensive than £15! I'm sure having plastic is a blessing in terms of detail and price, it's just when you compare it to methods of old it feels like a let down. The economy is a very different animal now!

I remember 5 metal Eldar Harlequins for £2.50

. 6 plastic ones for £24 today. Makes me feel old.

Edit: Just checked GW website... £28 for 5 close combat terminators!!! I seriously would like to know how they keep their customers

Simple. Two potential business plans, low margin but large customer base or high margin but small customer base. GW have chosen the latter.

Ever since that lad sold Games Workshop to work on EIDOS the costs of Games Workshop stuff has spiralled. Shocking some of the prices I've seen!

Not just the prices, but the policies. Their attitude towards independent retailers, particularly in Australia and North America, is shocking.

Already thought of some changes to make tonight (been speaking to people on DakkaDakka) Turns out there is already quite a good community codex (I found loads of old ones last night but this one is quite recent) I'm going to take some of their ideas on board and tweak my own.

Once I've got something that people are happy with I'll make a Battlescribe module and a Vassal extension if I have time!)

They have a policy of not talking to the press. That way they can avoid accusations of shocking overpricing. £28.50 for five plastic Terminators is indefensible.
