Fuel up/down again

found this, no idea why South West of England is different
BP Ethanol added at 5% to unleaded petrol at all sites across the UK. BP Ultimate (super unleaded) does not have Ethanol added, except in the South West of England.
Esso Ethanol is added at 5% to unleaded petrol at most sites in the UK. Esso Super Unleaded petrol does not contain Ethanol, except in the South West of England (Devon & Cornwall)
Shell Shell has repeatedly refused to answer the question. It is therefore an assumption only, that all Shell petrol should be considered to contain 5% Ethanol.
Texaco Ethanol is added at 5% to unleaded petrol. Texaco Super Unleaded petrol does not contain Ethanol.
Total Ethanol is not added to any Total fuel (including standard unleaded petrol). Except in the North West and South East of England.

Why would it be region dependent?

Proof is irrelevant. Perception, convenience and flavour of coffee is often a bigger factor in purchase decision.

Its true, I always used Vpower unleaded in my 335i and never considered BP as ultimate was an additional 5p a litre for some unknown reason. They are both premium fuels, so why is BP more expensive?

So really then you can't give us a good reason why its worth paying more for BP.

As I suspected. I'll stick to... well, everyone except BP.

whenever i stop by a BP station it always seems to be full of people on fuel cards.

If you're using a fuel card you don't give a **** how much it costs and only care how near it is to your house. There's one near me which is literally 50 yards away from an Esso Tesco Express which is always without fail 1p or 2p a litre cheaper. You can see the price of the esso station from the forecourt of the BP station. People still go in however. (i go there to use the jet wash occasionally in the winter when i can't be bothered to properly clean the car.)

Why do I have to give a reason, there are already well published reasons for paying a premium but often this is ignored. Most people cant be arsed to drive 3 miles down the road to get it cheaper. This is where convenience comes in.

Around here they are all pretty much the same before discounts

Why is BP always more expensive than Shell? What will I get for my extra money?

This is just a guess, but as BP supply Sainsburys does this not mean they can afford to be overpriced as they are already making profit of the fuel Sainsburys shift and so can afford to do lower sales at their own stations (as there's always a chance customers turned off by their prices will go to a Sainsburys instead anyway).

I've personally had issues in the past with a mapped car with BP fuel only, I try and avoid it now. I'll tend to stick in Shell V Power or if that's not available then I choose Tesco Momentum.

Well that's obvious if your car is mapped to the limit of knock on 99 Ron fuel.

My car has issues on diesel so I try and avoid that now.

He's talking about one specific BP garage where unsuspecting drivers who do not know the area will fill up, blissfully unaware that that there is a Tesco's less than half a mile further down the road at £1.35 for reg
