**XBOX ONE** Official Thread

i think it's good.

gives me some incentive to play all the 360 & steam games i havn't even got round to playing.

i'll wait for Xbox 'number two'

Sega, come back, now is your chance.

How amazing would it be if Sega had just been sat back watching for the past decade, waiting for the right moment to release a beastly new console! Shenmue 3, Crazy Taxi remade with a sprawling recreation of San Francisco, Streets of Rage remade with proper physics, next gen graphics and a remastered soundtrack. They'd bring back Sega Bass Fishing and the controller attachment just for the lolz too. :D

Shenmue 3 - and Streets of Rage only if Yuzo Koshiro is composer. Hope they paid for that with their billion dollar war chest (although seemingly all in house) :(

And again:

Unsurprisingly non-exclusive games will be developed for the Xbox as there would be no point losing sales just to take advantage of a little more gpu power.

One platform doesn't have better hardware than the other. The PS4 has a small graphical advantage but lacks the majority of extra features that the Xbox has.

Good luck trying to use Kinect / a 360 controller / Live / TV, on your PS4.

No, games will have the PC as the lead platform, games like Watch Dogs etc already are using the PC as the lead platform.

You do realise the PS4 has a lot more than 'a little' more GPU power right?

Not to mention that unless they purposely gimp the PS4 version of a game it will run better by default without them having to do any coding specifically for the PS4?

It's like having a PC with a 7770 and then swapping out the card for a 7870, you get an automatic increase in performance without the games coding having to be changed at all, the same thing will apply to the Xbox One and the PS4

This will likely be the case for games that include a PC title for release... for games that don't though (FIFA) maybe we'll suffer and a few others that will likely follow suit.

I don't think pioneer2000 will actually take in any of what has been posted in reply. He's got his views set in stone :).

While the whole name debate seems to be a non-issue for most, Nintendo themselves claim that the Wii U's name led people to believe that it was a peripheral for the Wii.

I wouldn't underestimate the stupidity of the general population.

360 worked and for the most part was used as a name on its own.

Doesn't quite work with "U" or "One".

If people really are that stupid :o I just don't see it. Nintendo just doing a good job of ignoring the facts seem far more likely, they underpowered their console and thought everyone would buy into their platform. If they'd juiced it up to current tech levels for release they'd probably be performing better. I was tempted but why upgrade sideways. I guess I see where they're coming from (1% of me anyway)

That was Nintendo'a own fault. They marketed both consoles completely wrong, especially with the Wii U. They announced the Wii U pad first then showed the actually console later. They did the announcement backwards.

Of the many details that began to trickle out of Microsoft's Xbox One reveal, the next-gen console's controller accessory port went largely unnoticed, but its inclusion could have a lasting impact for players. As we learned during our hands-on session, the new controller will come equipped with a new, proprietary data port that replaces the chat cable connector found on the current generation, which a trusted source tell us will make the system incompatible with existing gaming headsets, including high-end audio products like those made by Astro Gaming, Turtle Beach, Tritton, and others.

While game audio will be available through the system's optical port, in order to support chat communications, headsets will be required to make use of the new connection type. While it's possible that either Microsoft or third-party makers could develop an adapter to offer backwards compatibility, we're told that the new port is part of a larger strategy to gain control over the accessory market. Manufacturers will not only need to develop entirely new products for the new connection standard, but use licensing and authentication protocols from Microsoft, potentially driving up costs for consumers. The licensing program could also limit the variety and competitive nature of the accessory market since all manufacturers would be required to adhere to Microsoft's terms.
On the other hand, the proprietary format could offer significant improvements to the chat audio experience. The new data port reportedly supports stereo audio, potentially for the purpose of delivering game audio directly from the controller or simply boosting mono chat audio in the current-gen to stereo. In the case of the latter, stereo chat audio could lead to virtualized directional communications, allowing players to hear where a nearby player is speaking from — a feature currently found in PC titles like ARMA 2.
When reached for comment, Microsoft representatives didn't explicitly state that current hardware was incompatible, but rather that the company was focusing on new devices:
"We are working with 3rd party headset manufacturers to create new headsets that will take full advantage of the Xbox One technology," company representatives said. "We will share more details in the future."
It's also unclear is whether Microsoft is currently developing a headset solution of its own or will instead utilize the Kinect's noise cancellation and player detection technology to serve as the primary chat receiver.

Have to see what astro do now.

They've just killed all sales of headsets now. Can't imagine many of those companies are happy.

Seems the Xbox onevis incompatible with gaming.

Yeah but Nintendo are morons. I mean when they announced it, they announced it as a control pad. That has to be the worst announcement in history.

PeoplePeloton need to stop jumping to conclusions and wait for E3.
MS have talked about a possible scenario of payment for second hand and online connection once every day. But then the senior guys came out and said these are possible scenarios and nothing more ATM and no further details on this will be released ATM.

Or maybe seeing what the backlash is like before deciding.

He's been banging the tard drum too much it appears.

Two devices with similar hardware, but one is at least 33% more powerful if not more.

"Will be the same."

LOL.

They need to stop banging on about Skype, TV and cameras with mics that have to be always attached to your internet connected device, or how you won't own anything you buy so sharing will be difficult and start spreading some good news, and maybe, just maybe show a couple of games.

Lol, what utter retarded rubbish. It's stilla. Console and play games, do you expect everything to be backwards comparable for ever? No, thought not.

It means they'll release an adapter and new perphirals.

I also like how you missed why its changing.

Still seems like MS, still haven't learnt how to launch products. A pretty big shambles. should have either given full details or not disclosed it yet. These bad press on stuff that they haven't confirmed or denied will be hard to squash even if it turns out to be untrue.
