Doctor Who

Good luck, you're going to need it :p

At least there's little chance of Capaldi leaving because he wants to do movies in the States. Scripts are going to have to change dramatically though, no chance he'll suit the clown Moffat created for Smith.

Its going to have to go a lot darker again for it to work at all with Capaldi... I can't see the Smith teeny crowd being happy though.

I really don't get why this is such a big deal that it needed to have a 'live reveal' show :/

Will be funny with kids looking up other stuff Peter Capaldi is in and watching The Thick Of It :D

Well I jumped up and punched the air im that sad lol

Im so glad they went with an older Doctor, was so worried they would go younger and really push the Cbeebies stuff out!

Now get rid of Moffat and make it dark and scary again, please :)

I know, it seems a bit OTT tbh.

EDIT: lol was talking about that Thick of It to the missus lmao. Will be very funny trying to explain why the Doctor swears like a trooper lol

I quite happy with Capaldi, I guess we will finally find out if it was smith or scripts that took it down a much more kid friendly path, maybe with Tennent coming back for the 50th we may get a taste of hopefully more dramatic things to come :D

From his photo on the BBC website, I'd be more inclined to pick him to play the Master rather than the Doctor.

OK, so I was wrong again :p I don't think the bookies are too happy about the choice though.

As others have said here, the role of the Doctor needs to be a bit darker & more scary & I think he will bring that back.

Oh & I want the Sea Devils to make a return in the next series thanks.

A solid choice :)

I think the writers shied away from darker mature scripts as Matt had set his character as being energetic and silly, and they didn't want/think he was capable of such a shift.

Hopefully this is good news for the series all around

I thought it was widely know Moffat wanted the show to appeal to a younger audience before Smith was even cast? I'd guess he just suited the role at the time which Moffat alluded to during the reveal when he said Capaldi wasn't the right man for the job the last time.

It's a Time And Relative Dimension in ******* Space, now get in it so we can **** off to ancient Rome you ******

Not being dark or mature doesnt mean poor scripts which is what happened to DW, Capaldi at least will ensure that wont happened...

TBQH Id rather Moffat/Gatiss disappear and do more Sherlock stuff and let any idiot loose on DW :p

ps3ud0

I'd have no problem with Moffat sticking around to write the odd episode here and there, which is something he truly excels at, but as head writer and the person who decides how DW unfolds we really need a change because he's got it badly wrong imo.
