The "New Gear/Willy Waving" thread

hey mrk. i noticed that brand peak design. They are doing a new kickstarter project which sounds very exciting!

What a great idea and thanks for the heads up - just pledged for the pro version. I really want one of their leash straps as well, but it will have to wait until after the wedding now as I think Im about to be placed into financial lockdown :(

First lens I've bought for donkeys :)

That looks a lot like the 50, but I feel it should be the 35 or 85...

Correct, tis is 85 :)

Although instead of selling my existing 85 1.8 I've offered a straight swap for a Sigma 50mm 1.4 :o

Oops...the idea was that this didn't cost me much!

Ah well :D

85 should be something for you to have some fun with :)

Still not sure how I feel about my Sigma 50. Mrk keeps telling me to get out and use it more and I'll fall in love. But I'm not sure how I find the 50 focal length...

I have the Sigma 50mm F1.4, love it. There are times when it isnt wide engouh, and times when it is too wide. But as I dont have a ton of cash to but wider and longer primes, the 50 is great :)

I find it's always one of these :p Either not wide enough, or too wide!

This is why I need a 35 and a 85/135 xD

I borrowed friends Sigma 50mm for holiday, and it was really good for portraits and the depth of field it produced at f/1.8 - 2.0 was stunning.

However when things got little dark, the lens would hunt and struggle to lock on, and I had quite few shot with back focus issue. Maybe it could have been the lens but I didn't experience any back focusing during the day. In similar dark condition my old 28-70L f/2.8 performs a lot better.

The focal is just right on FF body, however I would take the Sigma 35mm over this lens.

I think I've just completed my lens set (honest Mr Bank Manager) with a Tokina 11-16mm F2.8 now giving me coverage of pretty much 11-400mm when added to the rest of the lenses. Quite happy so far but it's such different style of lens that I'm used too that I'll be getting in some practice with it over the weekend before it's 1st use "in anger" the week after (off to France on Holiday!)

Again nothing interesting but 5 cloths and holders for £7.50 delivered I couldn't say no. The holders are excellent and much better than my spudz cloths and holders.

My 70d got ordered today :/ then I can whack something like my 100mm F2.8L macro on it on my 100-400mm to make sure the AF and fire rate gets used and then leave my 10-22mm on my 650d where it doesn't really matter too much how fast I shoot.

*edit*

Apparently my 70d has begun it's trip to me! :D
