I prefer ekowool, because its thicker and last longer. But some say silica gives better favour, I haven't noticed any difference.

Cheers smoke, yeh i think thats the problem im having in that the ekowool is thick and trying to put the wicks down on the deck of the KFL then somehow getting the chimney bit to slide down over and not causing it to go loose, is whats giving me a huge ball ache.

This person has mad wicking skills. Figure 8 cotton in a Spheroid. Who wudda funk'd it?

Gahh well thats me done with the KFL, just isnt working for me. No matter what juice i put into the tank, it comes out tasting burnt and like crap.

Oh well gave it a chance but its just too ****ing fiddly to get right and ive lost all patience with it now. Wasted enough juice, wire and ekowool trying to get this damn thing to work properly...only once its worked for me but since then it hasnt.

Back to the protanks, good thing i didnt chuck them away lol. Guess ill be putting the KFL on my shelf so it can look pretty because thats about the only thing its good for lol.

Yas: Are you using thin enough silica/Ekowool? Overdoing it (2,5/3.0mm+) can cause issues, so perhaps try 1.5mm? I double up 1.5mm in a "Navy Nest" - check out the YouTube video by "Navylifeguard".
If it's hot-spotting quickly too, try reducing the resistance of your wire - 0.2mm can be very quick to "flash" - perhaps 0.25mm (30AWG) or even a couple of extra wraps with 0.3mm (28AWG) - almost Microcoil territory, will lower the ohms, but perhaps reduce the burning.

If all else fails, I'll rebuild my Aga T-2 perfectly for you and swap for your KFL :p

Is the AGA-T2 a decent starter for a rebuildable? Thinking of nabbing one of those and a Nemesis clone in order to dip my toes in the mech mod scene.

Pestilence: I'd recommend the RSST over the AGA T2 - it's less prone to shorting with it's insulated wick hole and less fiddly to attach wires, although it comes with a Polycarbonate tank which can craze/crack with some juices (you can buy replacement pyrex/quartz tanks); the Aga T2 has a Pyrex tube, but check the ends have been flame polished: available here.

If you do go for the Aga T2, Trust me your address and I'll send you a couple of SS washers to add between the positive post nuts - just ask Allnamestaken/Craig - it literally stopped him taking a hammer to his :D

In my own Vaping News; I've decided to source another Quartz tank to repair my Aga T2 - I've spent too long fiddling and stressing to get it working perfick to just bin it - but I had to order the updated Aga-TD version too - especially since the new design should sit well on top of the Private V2!

I've also ordered a shed-load of A1 Kanthal and organic cotton, as well as some varying diameter drill bits to start putting these "MicroCoiling Kits" together - I've had some interest, but please, get in touch as I've a feeling they'll be quickly in demand

Happy Vaping :p

Well the ekowool im using at the moment is the 2mm stuff with 32awg kanthal. Ordered some 2mm silica but that wont be here till next week i imagine.

Anyhow managed to get it wicked and coiled using the double strand method, no hot spots or anything ie burnt taste. Think i cracked how to do it now but at the moment my coil and wick on the KFL seems to be working fine for the time being so not going to touch it lol. Not getting a lot of vapour from my banana creme juice that im vaping at the moment, using 4volts on a 2.6ohm resistance, ill probably whack the voltage up a bit more.

But so far so good...just glad i got it done and it works rather than being a pain in the backside.

Okay... this is where I'm gonna come in, because I can see Yas being myself when it comes down to it, and ask the question about mechanical stuff.

So, he's just managed to build an atomiser himself. It's come out at 2.6 ohms, so he's thinking of pushing up the volts.

My all-day carry these days is a Lavatube, so at 2.6 ohms I'd be pushing at least 4.2v to get a decent hit and vapour out of that.

What is a mechanical mod going to offer me beyond that? Will it literally just be "whacking the max" into that 2.6 ohm coil?

Mechanicals support low resistance coils. They are much more versatile for those areas.

Setups that would normally cause a PV to error out wont on a MM.

Theres other things I am sure just cant think off the top of my head tired.

Aesthetics and great for stealth vaping, better switches for that sense of feel when activating the device, less prone to fail as no electronics, can handle low ohm coils (search for characteristics of vaping with low ohm coils), but VV/VW have their pros too.

Apart from that I never understand why they are so expensive for what they are. A bunch of people have just jumped on the OMG bandwagon and must trade my kidney for this brigade.

But without knowing material costs, cnc machine time and labour time, r&d (I laugh when I say this as without patents they are all clones of one another, one forum nor one person does not hold bragging rights that a mod or atty is their design!!!) I shouldn't be too hard on those people.

May have to pick up a second one for experimenting :) Handy tip: bore out the airhole a tiny bit with a corkscrew to get better vapour production. It's a bit tight to start with.

I have no idea where my RRST is. I did chamfer out a 1.5mm air hole on mine. I too just want to experiment building coils again. :D

Some bugger gazumped me on the UKVapers classifieds for an RSST AND an Aga T2 for £35. Tbf, I should have just PM'd my offer, but since I'm used to all offers being in - thread on AV forums, I did just that. Annoying, since the seller didn't even have the courtesy to acknowledge the offer - just closed the sale thread.

I've found some decent prices (including p&p) for the RSST, but obviously nothing beats the price for it on Slowtech ATM!

Anyone seen the Vicious Ant Hybrid review by Scott Bonner? Looks stunning and hopefully will a hybrid connection with the Kraken. I think that's where my next Vape-gasm is aimed... :p

maybe you should start doing youtube videos and eventually you will get these mods for free. ;)

Nearly a decade after quitting smoking in September this year i joined the ranks of vapists in an attempt to get my long craved nicotine fix and shed some of the weight I gained over the years without creating as much destruction to my lungs. I decided to use uneducated fix of low nicotine, high flavour solution to control "munchies" after vivid recollection on how I could go on with single meals and pack a day throughout my student and early adulthood years. So far, so questionable, but it seems to work as expected. I effortlessly shed 7kg across 6 weeks without feeling particularly hungry or angry, with itaste MVP as a handy tool to achieve some instant zen carried with me at all times.

That said however, I found technological aspect of vaping frustrating to say the least. The following are my notes:

- Whichever of you motherlovers decided to start using essences that make plastics brittle and whichever manufacturer decided to keep making their POS atomizers, clearomizers, whathaveyoumizers from plasitic that reacts to self implosion with chemicals used in vaping juices, both of you need to be shot. You motherlovers owe me at least 5 atoclearowhathaveyoumizers and at least two bottles of juice, two washing cycles and dry cleaning bill for my wool jumper. It's also fantastic advertisement to anyone who considers picking up vaping as a method to give up smoking. Try having "do you mean to tell me the juice you put in your lungs eats through plastics?!!!" in public places several times a month you extrement eating, cheapskate penny pinchers. Stop it. Stop the madness now. I'm looking at you joose-juice, I'm looking at you vivi nova V-core 2.0. I'm looking at you Kanger MT3. Tank makers. Stop making polycarbonate tanks. If not because of cracking then because of BPA. It's really bad for us. It's illegal to use in some countries by now. And it's highly reactive, as you can see from reaction with some juices. WTF is wrong with you?
Juice makers. Stop using benzyl acetate based flavourings in such high ratios that they react with plastics. Yes, they have food industry approval, but if you already concentrated it to the point where people mail you with reports of it melting through 2mm tops of their Kangers, you have probably gone several times over safe consumption limits. Stop it. WTF is wrong with you?

- The tech is nowhere near consumer ready. It's a comedy of alpha testing. You buy pack of three iclear 16's, two are nice and tight, the third has a thread that keeps on rotating on the mount. You buy pack of two X10 protanks, one needs chernobyl powerstation voltage to get going, the other has thread quarter of a mm too short to make a contact with plate on standardised mount and fire up at all. You buy a pack of two EGO pens, one works for 2 minutes and charges every second time, the other works for 30 minutes but loses charge within 48 hours even when off/not used. You buy pack of two iClear 30's, one makes slurping noise like sucking on a straw in empty milkshake tub, the other leaks from the mount hole all over the table. You pack of two Kanger Pro Tank II's and one takes forever to get going on 4V, the other is harsh like swallowing Wilkinson's Sword finest on 3.4V. Then you have those shoddy silicons tops inside that make a loud pop every now and then and spit bubbles of juice back into your mouth on a second draw. Oh my god people. How hard hard is it to do your measurements precise and make this tech less embarrassing to use. Amateur hour. This stuff ain't cheap. Stop the madness.

- E-liquids. Juices. Man, oh man alive. Can we just please agree to stop using cheapest off the shelf cake flavourings for stuff that we inhale? Prime example - irish cream flavours. Everyone use the same terrible Enumbernumber stuff that tastes like Monin Coffee syrups. Just buy a bottle of Baileys and see what it supposed to taste like. Try separate ingredients instead of off the shelf flavour. Dekang. Stop. Just stop. It's quite clear alcohols are not your forte. Vaping King, darling, yours is miles better than anyone else's so far but double choco cream tasting of spearmint? Really? What metrosexual bar do you get your cocktails at? Joose Juice, Irish Coffee is not supposed to taste like anti freeze. And while we at Joose Juice. I liked their cheesecake flavour but something is reacting badly in Joose Juice nuts favours. I had pecan, and two pistachio samples from them, within two weeks they all taste like licking insides of old hoover bag. Pina Colada sample bottle after a month smells like pipe cleaner. I'm not brave enough to even try it. Alchemist Cupboard. Probably best flavours so far. Gran's Trickle Tart, Chocolate Peanut Butter Cookie, American Apple Pie, their banana thing, all were good, but the samplers only come in maximum strength. Whoompf enducing and trippy stuff. Few puffs on empty stomach on my way to work in the morning and I swear I can hear radio traffic at Heathrow Flight Control tower and my eyes are glowing in the dark. Love the taste, but I have to mix Chocolate Peanut Butter with some 0 strength caramel. All I'm saying is - it's a 10ml sampler - roll out some strengths for regular people or it might be difficult for some of us to come back to your till in one piece.

And then there is the lack of info. Oh my god. It's worse than overclocking in early 2000's. I couldn't possibly even start without this forum and this thread from first page to the last. You need to take time off, embark on days of research and submerge in geekiness of epic proportions to complete the quest with right equipment the first time around. Threads, sizes, types, mizer this, mizer that, battery number differences of one digit, ohmometers involved, "Samsung Galaxy" like model assignment malarky, you buy one iClear and one Pro Tank, then second iClear and second Pro Tank, they are all different animals, in different shape and size, one with wicks one without, one with metal tip, one with plastic, one with sticky surface, one with wings to attach to underwear (oh, what's my wives shopping list doing in my notes?). Oh, and the next a-hole to call anything Vivi Nova something, I swear I'm going to take a large battery modding device and whack you across your Ego stick so hard you will see your first pack of cigarettes iClearly.

I seem to have gone all Lewis Black on this thing, let me retire for short vaping session. ;)
