Does anyone know of any android remote software that works via 3G/HDSPA rather than only connected via WiFi.

I use btopenzone, so even if both the phone and PC are connected to it, they are on different networks and the PC can't see the phone as it would if connected through some sort of router.

How do you group movies? For example the Bourne movies as 1 icon which then shows the 4 rather than them all being listed on the first bit? Using Aeon Nox.

That's worked thank you. Is there a way to make them appear in alphabetical order rather than all at the start?

IIRC, Raspbmc on the RPi supports a handful of USB tuners so you should be able to 'connect and go' as it were - loads of threads on the Raspbmc forums about this.

When you're in the Movie view mode, check you're viewing them in Sort by 'Title'

I use the 'BigFan' view mode

Aeon mq5 skin is now in the official xbmc repo. Recomend that ppl give it a try its awesome. Worth setting your menu backgrounds to the fan art slideshow

Just gave this a try .... not bad .... will report back as to how it performs on an ION machine

Anyone else using a lowish spec htpc with MQ ?

MQ5 looks nice, but I can't get it to behave/do what I want and can't find where to put/edit the widgets - same troubles I had with MQ4 really.

Think I'll stick to Nox for now.

Now if I can just find the XML file that manages the home screen so I can drop the menu down a bit

whats the best,cheap, quiet and low powered device for XBMC?

I have a pi running raspxbmc but it's very sluggish and I often have to wait for it to catch up. (I have the latest 512mb pi)
I have a LOT of movies and tv shows on there.

Should raspxbmc be running slow? Is that normal? If yes, what is a better device?

I saw something called 'XstreamTec Linux XBMC ' How's that?

A USB install of raspbmc on a device flash drive does wonders for the sluggishness in the menus

So instead of booting from the memory card, use a flash drive?

It boots from the SD card but installs XBMC to the USB drive.

Easy to do with the Raspbmc installer. Select USB install when creating the SD card, pop the SD card and a flash drive into the Pi then power on and it sorts it all out.

My menus are a lot smoother and a lot less laggy etc after using a usb install

ah, I done the install a while back when I don't think there was a simple installer. (i did it via ssh on a linux install) I'll take a look when I get home.

I can happily play 30gb 1080 mkvs on raspberrypi from cifs shares with no issues.

Well until I save up and get the HTPC that you specced for me in another thread (after I bought my i7 upgrade for main pc after the holidays are over), the Pi is all I have

It's not terribly slow, since raspBMC is designed to run on it. Just every now and again you will have to wait a bit once you have pressed something for it to catch up.

Rubbish! Mine works flawlessly installed on a 16gb usb 3 stick, I don't have any slowness at all.
