*****EGOSOFT TNBT (X Rebirth)****

I'm trying to hold out but digital distribution is a blessing and a curse. I look forward to reading some views in here.

Almost caving in...

Star Citizen is too far away, and I'm not prepared to wait for the new Elite. If there's any time to play rebirth, it has to be now, not in 2 years time when it's all patched and modded up, before potentially better games come along.

I do have one question/concern, probably determine how much I enjoy it or not - how much is exploration going to be a feature in rebirth?

Thinking of the different purposes you can create for yourself, giving you the motivation to play - trading, making a large empire and so on, will there be a dedicated niche for pure exploration, depending on how many uncharted sectors they've created?

Part of me doesn't give a toss about buying/selling and creating large space stations, but I'm worried that without that this game will have much less to offer?

EDIT: Nevermind, just watched this. I'm sold. :D

Too much focus on all the buildings in the main trailers - this video has more of what I want to see, cool natural structures and scenery in space.

Oddly enough exploration is one thing I've been wondering about as well, previously you could find ships etc but one of the recent videos showed some of it and he was going around finding cans of cash/items with a scanner. It does look cool but I hope you can find a lot more than cans of credits.

I hope the modding community will add new areas to explore as time goes on as well.

That asteroid field and dust cloud look beautiful though, with the other bodies in the background. Great colours too - a big part of any space sandbox for me is to be blown away visually, which they'll definitely achieve with the artifical structures and hopefully also with the natural structures and backgrounds/colours.

I'm sorry, but that video does not look fun... It seems like a small boring little mini game. Hardly something worth investing time in.

Not sure I am keen on this now :(

That and moving around looks like you're in some sort of spectator view, floaty and too easy for kb/mouse D:

Looks like they have dropped the ball or run out of controller buttons with this. High tech ship and you can't automatically scan in the background. Hopefully this can be modded out.

The movement of your ship during that Exploration video looks awful, imo. I've been cautiously looking forward to this game, but the weird 'floating camera' movement that is evident in some of the videos has been putting me off pre-ordering.

I'll wait for the initial let's plays, I think.

I see where you're coming from, however, it's the same as the previous X games. The main difference being is you see it from inside the cockpit, in the previous games it was a third person view and you could see the little thrusters firing which maneuvered you.

The cockpit definitely does add to more of a floating camera feel. However, from a physics stand point, space is near frictionless, so when firing low powered angled thrusters you would just rotate on the spot without affecting your trajectory.
