That's easy to answer, the wife is away this weekend so I get all weekend to myself to play games and I fancy playing something new :D
 
There is never any real reason for pre-order. Occasionally on Steam you will be given an enticement to preorder, additional bauble, or doodad etc.

This is leaving yourself open to disappointment. Patience is a virtue.

Wait for a serious reviewer to get their teeth into it, and then make an informed decision.

But i suppose most of the fanboi's will have bought it the day the pre-order went live and will shoot this post down in flames.

As I said, yes there is a reason. I got it for £25, the best I see it for now is £40. Unfortunately that deal is over now. You won't get it for less than £25 for some time, I doubt it'll even go that low in steam christmas sales.

Steam isn't the only place to buy the game, shop around and you might still find a good preorder deal.
 
I am so tempted to get this as I loved the other X3 games however I am worried about the whole "1 ship" thing. I do want to wait for reviews but I don't think I will have the will power

Sorry i wasnt specific enough, what i meant was that regardless of the discount or additional guff you get with a title, you could still buy a crap game...so yes, you probably want to weigh up the options on a preorder though i have been burnt too much in the past

Mmm, I pity anyone that bought BF4 for the campaign. Either way, there's some games you know you just really want to play and will always pre order. This is definitely one of them for me.
 
Anyone noticed the 400mb download this morning? I got a little excited thinking they may have released X-Rebirth early.
 
Does anyone find the release time on steam a bit weird? It says approximately 2 days and 3 hours, which would make it around 6pm Friday. For a German company, that seems like an odd time to be releasing a game.

Sure we did, and what? you have a problem with that? I personally don't give a **** for TW2, BF4 or new CoD, doesn't matter how good they are, but give me a new X-Rebirth and I am first in the queue. Its a matter of taste...like with classical music, not for everybody ;]
 
Yay, my zavvi order is processing. They will probably ship tomorrow for next day. Glad i jumped on that deal.

Even if the game isn't finished, egosoft have an excellent track record of continued development based on fan feedback.

Just saw that myself, mine's processing too :D Let's hope it does come next day. We'll get it later than the rest if it unlocks midnight tomorrow but only getting it for £25 so it's worth the few hours.

Not sure why people are worried it's not finished, the worst I've read is they've cut some features out for the sake of getting the game out sooner so we can play it, and then patch it in as they finish it. The core game is still gonna be there, imo.

Gotta love people calling people fanboys for preordering. Is not preordering the new master race or something? Personally I'm excited enough to play the game asap and even if the game ends up a buggy mess I won't regret buying it - push comes to shove I have it there to play in a few patches time, since I would 100% be buying it anyway as I'm a fan of the series.

It's becoming more and more disappointing how judgemental, vindictive and generally just mean and obnoxious this forum seems to be getting lately. I see so many more entitled little idiots spewing hatred everywhere than I used to :(
