*****EGOSOFT TNBT (X Rebirth)****

Uh oh, Totalbiscuit isn't going to be happy, the menu's are hopeless and the options menu doesn't have 500 different sliders!

Don't know what they were thinking with the menu clicking, having to double click everything. Looks good though, so there's that :P

any of you installed from DVD and could tell if something must be downloaded from steam after installation? I have terrible transfer from steam after I upgraded to windows 8.1 :( and have no clue what can cause it

I hate everyone with faster internet than me right now.

Mate says, menus are functionally broken meaning he cant use any joysticks etc.

And nvidia surround causes the game to crash on startup.

otherwise, it looks savage and feels ace etc. Just needs 5 or so seconds of testing and reporting of bugs..... Like every other game released now days.

Testing went out the window.

Not tried the release version yet, but the game ran fine and didn't crash on an i7 2600k @ 4.5 16 gig and a 6970. I didn't get much chance to play it for a long time tho last night.

Just watched an initial video of the release on Youtube... dear god those character models are awful! The performance seems very poor and stutters, but then that is par for the course with Ego games.

I'm glad I held off on this one, although I'm hopeful that Egosoft will patch it up to a playable state by Christmas.

For those who are having crashes, try this:

1) Right click your audio icon in the system tray and select 'Playback Devices'.

2) Highlight your default playback device.

3) Click the 'Properties' button.

4) Click the 'Advanced' tab.

5) Under the 'Default Format' drop down menu, choose 16 bit, 48000 Hz (DVD Quality).

6) Click OK.

Good old Egosoft ... they love their sound drivers/codecs, that hasn't changed in many years :D

I know, I remember spending plenty of time on their forums during the X3:Reunion release telling people to do this exact same fix. I wonder if any remnants of the old engine exist in this supposed new engine, and as such some of the old bugs have transferred over?

Its a very new engine, and all the parts I've played with (at least what you can see from a modders pov) are new but the sound part I haven't looked at but it wouldn't surprise me if there are some bits that are the same or very similar to the old one.

God this is good. It does seem to suffer a little bit from Rome II syndrome in terms of performance, but nothing too bad for me atm, just a bit of slowdown when exiting/entering new areas for a moment.

I'm curious though, does anyone know where all the stuff you pick up from containers goes? As far as I can see it seems to go nowhere :S

Also, is there an easier way to get info on stations other than flying over literally every substation?

Taking some getting used to these menu's and stuff, completely different layouts from the old games. Flying is beautiful though and boost is so, so, so, SO much better than SETA it's ridiculous.
