*****EGOSOFT TNBT (X Rebirth)****

Can anyone with ATI switchable graphics confirm whether their graphics card is listed in the options.

I only have integrated graphics listed, but I have manually set up(as I have to with all games) the game to run with my 7970m.

People pay attention to user reviews who are actually playing (or trying to) play the game yes. Look forward to getting this on Steam sale anyway, I got Reunion and Terran Conflict to play at some point in the meantime.

More like the majority of people who are on meta critic etc are generally going to be the people having problems looking for somewhere to moan (and we know nearly everygame has problems for at least 'some' people at the start). I'll wager that is the minority compared to actual amount of people playing. It is still the first day remember.

How you can think metacritic is going to be an accurate representation of the general consensus after a few hours is laughable :)

I think a lot of the negative feedback is coming from people who were expecting a developed first person RPG element. Where in reality, the whole walking around thing is more of an add on as opposed to major element of game play. It's still first and foremost a space sim.

I'm beginning to regret buying the CE Edition, I still haven't got it, even thought lots of other people in the UK have theirs. And the Egosoft website is down. I wish I had bought the steam copy I would save £20 and be playing the game now.

This is a prime example of a stupid metacritic review (which most of them are).

He gives it a 3 and says:

On a good note, they finally released the game, on a bad note its is shambles
-- No Joystick support
-- No head tracking support

It does have joystick support and they said they will look into adding head tracking support later on. How does this result in a 3?

Wow, just been playing for 30 minutes floating around space it is gorgeous and the soundtrack is beautiful. I am a space junkie at heart so just love these settings. I have the game maxed full graphics and am not seeing the performance problems that others are seeing, mostly 45- 60 frames per second. Gonna head out for a bit then come back and get stuck in!

Only played half an hour, I'll judge it after 20+ hours of active playing though. Initial thoughts:

Graphics are nice and fluid and I've only got a GTX460SOC.

People - not so good, voice acting fairly iffy but I can live with it.

Not tried my HOTAS yet, will later on tonight when I get peace from my 3 year old :)

Over all I'm fairly happy so far, quite like how it's started and it's nice to see the interior of the ship. Mostly though I can seen insane modding possibilities!

The voice acting isn't great, but is better than it used to be.

At least everything feels vibrant and alive this time. Lanes of traffic, police actually policing them, random pirate raids that you can help out against and get rewarded for. It all feels a lot more dynamic.

Currently following the story since I probably need to so I can get some stuff unlocked.

Accidentally fired on a station - those things pack a punch!

I'm being completely stupid but I can't seem to find a change view button. Can you not see outside the ship?

Thank you, also I apologise if I rubbed anyone up the wrong way, I do want this game to be great but I am often swayed by negative comments. How does the speed compare to the other games? Does it take 20m to fly from one gate to another or do the highways eliminate this?

A lot of hackles are up in here, who works for Egosoft? Are all the voices still robotic German ones?

Perhaps people are just taking offense at you putting so much stock in the useless spur of the moment rage induced rubbish that is release week metacritic reviews. Anyone who scores a game 0-4 is in my eyes a troll who is deliberately gaming the system to express their anger instead of accurately reviewing the game. Those scores are for games which literally don't work, have no working gameplay and just don't show any of the characteristics of a completed game. X Rebirth is a fully functioning (if slightly unoptimized), fun, beautiful and most importantly HUGE game. Yes, it has issues and flaws which need ironing out, but to give it a zero? Those people get zero respect from me because they're essentially petulant children throwing a fit.

Voice acting is ridiculously bad though, to answer your second question. I can't understand why they haven't hired native English speakers. Even the cheapest English speaking actors would've done a better job than this. But they've always done it this way so I assume it must be a budget thing.

Moving across the system is actually surprisingly fast without SETA. The new boost system is quite good, although you do sometimes have to wait for it to regen. The only problem I'm having is understanding the new sector layout as it is super confusing at times.

I'm being completely stupid but I can't seem to find a change view button. Can you not see outside the ship?

Nope, the only way to see your ship is by piloting one of your drones and looking at it that way.

The game deserves like every other game at least 20 hours in it before you review, that's why I like Angry Joe's reviews, he actually plays them and isn't in a rush to get a review out!

Just played about an hour and a half and for me so far it is superb. It's a very good looking game although even with 8x AA it's still a bit edgy. It plays really well and I can see myself sinking hours into this like all the previous X games.

Very good game as long as you like X games.

So much better. Best thing they ever did was to get rid of SETA - the new boost system is great and at least most hubs are bunched together along the highway system.

Struggling to get my head around the system, sector, zone system at the moment. There is just so much to take in.

Would definitely agree with MOOGLEYS, you have to like X games. If you do then I reckon you will love this one.

I just don't get how space is so smooth, then on the stations there is a load of lag!
