Anyone else experiencing the 'Google Play services battery drain bug'? Seemed to be effecting me both before and after the recent OTA.

Agree although my wireless seems a bit hit and miss when connecting now.
Has anyone had battery life problems after the 4.4 KitKat ota. My battery seems to drain and the standard SMS app is keeping my phone awake when its Locked. It drain 40% in like an hour and a half.
Oh and also since the update it keep getting messages on the screen saying "No APN specified on the device" even thought mobile Internet works as it should.

I also noticed this, I will unlock the phone only to see it suddenly connecting to wifi. That's with the battery saving feature off & always on enabled. Doesn't happen all the time & that's only at work so the signal is never max (mostly 3 bars)... Hmmmm

You need the GEL launcher from N5. Look ok XDA.

Only the nexus 5 is powerful enough to have a transparent status bar or so Google claim.
In the previews of kitkat the status bar was translucent. Why don't I have this!? Does it have to be enabled or did they just cancel the feature?
Install the GEL launcher or Apex/Nova Beta & you'll have them. Google decided to make the GEL launcher exclusive to N5's for some unknown reason.

From your phone just google gel.apk, download it, install it. job done. In security settings you'll first have to allow downloading from unknown sources.

Edit: Noticed my lock screen doesn't have the transparent bars though, is that normal?

Yay, Nexus 4 back to standard KitKat 4.4 rooted using ARM, with GEL launcher and WhatsApp working. I think I'll just stick to this for a long time now.
Annoying my Nexus 7 (2012) hasn't got the OTA updates yet though.

Mine got both the early '16O' and then '16S' updates OTA before my Nexus 4 did!?!
Is the search bar still off-centre on the homescreen when you use that method? It's insignificant, but it'd annoy me I think.

All I did when I got the nexus 7 was put root on it. That wouldn't have any affect would it??
