**** New Official DayZ Thread *****

I remember running through balota airstrip one time and i could hear some american kid screaming down the mic for someone to leave him alone, a guy was blocking him off from getting out of the hangar with his military ambulance, i watched it for about 15 mins with these two guys arguing, was so funny, there was two guys in the ambulance, one got out and ran away whilst the driver turned off the engine, the guy in the hangar ran out to the front of the ambulance thinking it was safe, the driver turned on the engine and flattened him, don't think i've laughed so hard in a long time.
 
early on was awesome :cool:

just had a look at one of my earliest dayz videos :p atmosphere was quite intense not sure what to do or go so much of that kind of feeling and searching is missing from modern games.

did play on markers server with massey and me but i guess our approach to slaying people and add me on facebook wasnt welcome :D

then onto the best map in my opion which is Namalsk with mgt crew :cool: same again really good fun but with banter allowed. we had a week long hold on vortuka :D some of the best fun ive had in years.

taviana next :cool: again mgt crew heli battles at sabina :p

those times best gaming fun last 5 years !

do i think standalone will recreate that ? no. it will be great but the first virgin entry into dayz was special. legs never broken witcher :D

still playing now our lot just started again after big break and on ts it is hilarious when something goes wrong :p . hopefully the SA is soon and we will have a server up for when it is.
 
I do miss how it was at the start, with people being friendly and not just shooting everyone all the time. Once all these idiot youtubers got on it, the amount of knuckle draggers playing shot up no end.

A new "map" is definitely needed I feel. I know they have reworked it but it's still going to be Chernarus. Something fresh where you get the feeling of having no idea where stuff is.

We had no problem with it until it became a constant bore to read every minute!

Also, I thought the new inventory system was meant to be half decent? It looks bloody awful!
 
I still load this up from time to time. Mainly waiting for SA but I've had so many fun interactions.

This is a video from a guy who approached us POV, me and 2 Finnish friends were just checking out Podagorsk, in the end we kind of thought he was leading us into a trap but funny none the less for us at the time. (had no idea he was filming, found it the next day)

I'm getting so frustrated with this I really am.

Just spent 2 hours trying to survive with just a pesky handgun. All I was finding was empty tins, never found 1 item of water either canteen or drink. Everytime I get into or close to a town which looks like it might have some goodies, It's damn impossible to get to said goodies because of the impossibility behind not aggroing the zombies. 90% of the buildings in the towns are inaccessible meaning I spend most of my time running in and out of buildings to try and loose the zombies but running into more around each corner, then forgetting where any of the opened buildings are. It's a very uninteresting battle at the moment, getting quite pee'd off. I just need to get self sufficient which seems to be totally impossible at the start for me.

The thing I dont get is all videos I see on youtube. the player is able to crouch run within 20 feet of the Zombie and not even get aggro'd..when I try that I get every damn zombie from the whole world chasing my ass down. Is there a different build also because my gui icons look totally different to the ones I see in the videos. My ear and vision has no scale of 1-5 and my food, blood, water etc look totally different. Am I playing a harder newer version or something?

I'm desperate to figure this out.

Also, how frigging anal is the damn inventory system????:mad::mad::mad:
and how do you throw empty tins to cause a distraction? when I open my inventory up, it says on the right "holding" yet there is no obvious way to hold something, and again, my inventory screen looks totally different to the ones im seeing in the videos.

Zed's are no threat in this game once you learn it they become a joke. They can't run in buildings for starters. Giving you plenty of time to run in while they walk, loot and run out while they are still walking. All you have to do is break line of sight, trust me once you get used to it the zeds will just be stupid and the only threat will be other players.
 
I'm just not getting it at the moment mate, the zeds as you call them, are just ****ing me off. I have no idea where to go, have no map, can never find any open buildings. Every town I come to is boarded up, the only buildings that seem to have goodies are surrounded by 5 or 6 zeds.

How do you throw tins?
 
basically you spawn in and run along sea shaw until you get to electro or chernarus. map here http://www.mappery.com/map-of/Chernarus-Map

along way you go in barns or red brick buildings these often have weapons in. if you do it right you should have a gun within 20 minutes. get a axe and in the inventory right click on it and add to back. this makes the axe hot swop. that is massive in dayz as you press 1 for main weapon and 3 for melee axe.

so now you can move silently when needed. in barns youll get lee enfield rifles,snipers,shotguns,cross bow,axe,mechete,pistol.

high yield places like army bases you get milatary gear.


zombies you are best to just run through buildings if getting chased , barns very good for losing them. also trees line of sight.

you can crouch and press shift to slow walk crouching which you can creep by zombies.

if you want a hand ill have a few games with you on a server tomorrow and ill show you the ropes ;)

Tony, give me a shout and I'll give you some company in game :) There is a lot to learn at first that you end up using as second nature.

I actually feel bad about doing that LOL, oh wait no I don't :) You still owe me for that one Neil, maybe when SA hits you can have your revenge.
