**** New Official DayZ Thread *****

key is trust no one kill all :D

first time i ever played i ran with someone for about 40 minutes then decided he couldnt be trusted and killed him.

what happens when you die? Obviously you'll lose whatever the killer can half inch from your back pack, but then what happens? Just a respawn somewhere? any other penalties?

ok, just got my Arma 2 installed, updated to 1.11 and also the Arrowhead expansion. Now just gotta get DayZ mod tomorrow, oh and more importantly...FIGURE OUT HOW THE HELL TO WORK OUT MY KEY BINDS  I just cant get comfortable, so many things to map on the left hand.

I stopped playing Dayz when BF4 released. It gets a bit repetitive after a while. Lots of servers out to make money now with custom loadouts and having to buy building supplies, hardly any vanilla public hives (where the fun is) and most people playing Origin or Epoch which means locked camps and people building bases around all of the weapon spawn areas, meaning if you just joined the server the best you will find is a Lee Enfield. Yawn.

Hoping that the standalone brings public hives and no base building, because if you have the latter it ends up being a simple case of whoever has the largest team wins.

standalone everything is locked down so no selling packages or gear or admin exploitation. that is why i cant wait for it myself ;)

hmm this sounds like it would suck. That's kinda really put me off. Going to be hard to survive playing with a stick.

Largest team doesn't always win. One person can take out an entire team if they are patient enough, its a game of waiting in these cases. Satchel their base ready for a full on attack and you can do a lot of damage, catch many of them in explosions.

Underslung grenades are wonderful tools.

Thx DG.

I'm actually just playing Arma 2 Complete Collection to try and get used to the bloody silly amount of keybinds to do even the simplest of things. This is actually taking me more time than actually playing the game, so many different keys, trying to work out a custom keybind that works for me, so far I'm struggling to find something thats even comfortable let alone easy to use quickly

Stick with it, the arma inventory was pretty weird to me at first but it kinda sunk in and almost feels pretty smooth now :p.

It's all about finding the right MOD and right server. I personally only play DayZero.

i wouldnt change many buttons and learn what they are as after a few sessions youll soon learn. then youll see they mapped pretty decent.

the nice thing is, this game actually plays really decent now with a PC a little further down the line. I remember when I first bought Arma 2 many years ago, I gave up after maybe 2 missions because the performance was actually horrendous. I can actually play on max now with 10000 view distance not that I'll ever need it that high, just as test purposes though. This game was a **** on any system when it was released if I remember correctly.

Try not to get too attached to your stuff also.
Just grab an axe or weapon and around like a mad man so you can get use to the combat system and being in actual combat has it can get pretty tense.

Ok got everything running now, just hopped into my first server, love the feel of it. Need a damn weapon though lol.

Can anyone tell me what these white dots are covering just the grass only though? Its when I select any of the grass options from the ATOC menu option for some reason.
