29 million Bulgarians and Romanians will gain the right to live and work unrestricted in our country

Typical Fail. It's cute the way they compare the most densely populated part of the UK to entire other nations in the rest of Europe but it's not exactly enlightening, is it? It's got the typically sensationalist terminology as well "By 2046, an estimated 494 people will be squeezed into every square kilometre of England compared with 411 now and only 374 when Tony Blair took power in 1997." Hah! London, just for comparison has 5285 people per square kilometre, if 494 is "squeezed", what is 5285? And pity the poor people Jersey and Guernsey living in terrible deprivation on their cramped and overcrowded islands with twice the population density of England.

In fact, less than 2.3% of UK land has been built on, so what exactly are we worrying about?

Show us a piece of academic writing that backs up your tosh? A citation to you is more than likely the daily mail. Stop talking utter nonsense.

What tosh? I merely asked how the poster knew that Romanians weren't worse people. I didn't make a statement for you to call tosh.

Who votes to changes this disgusting poster's screen name to Frightful Bigot

What in my quoted post was bigoted? Thanks for the insult though, a strategy to which many resort when they have little of import to say.

Spend Christmas with a bunch of Bulgarians and a Syrian. All were nice friendly well educated people.

The Bulgarians said that most of them who wanted to leave the country already have years ago. He also said that many of the ones who do leave in the future are more interested in countries like Germany where there is a large Turkish population.

I'm sure they were. Being non-British myself I don't believe for a second that only the British are friendly and well-educated. Come to think of it the reactions of the 2 posters above you prove that the British aren't very friendly at all!

That guy missed out loads and why does he never mention population or immigration? another BBC crap reporter.

From your link.
"The link between statistics & the reality of life are often so far apart they are meaningless

Take any court case where two "experts" use arguments based on statistics & you'll witness ridiculous levels of manipulation"

If its helpful to the debate at all, I've got a second date with a hot Romanian in about an hour.

Terrible thing, this immigration. Terrible.

Then they don't deserve to live in a multicultural society either.
You make it sound like a benefit rather than cultural destruction
Why don't you go and live in Dubai, people like to pretend it is posh and you'd be culturally enriched to the eyeballs.
Indian immigrants though seem to be more "middle class"
First gen will have established businesses by now so many will be middle class. Although in Indian middle class people would have servants to cook and clean, so really they are slumming it a bit in England :)

In a country that's favourite food is curry, we drive foreign cars and shop in massive multinational companies, often buying goods that are made in other countries, yet you think that our culture is "pure"? Pull the other one...

Source? According to my limited research Britain's favourite food is a bacon sarnie, with the roast dinner coming in second. That's from opinion polls, but looking at the most valuable food companies in Britain it seems we're addicted to bread and Coke.

29 million:
minus most of the children and elderly(both countries under threat of aging population).
minus the ones that would rather stay(both countries have their shares of middle class that do pretty well for themselves given the standard of living).
minus the ones that go to EU countries other than the UK.
minus the ones that are already here since 2007 and can very easily get permission to work in the UK anyway(and many of them still count as permanent residents within their countries due to slow bureaucracy).
minus the ones that would rather move to places like Canada,USA etc.
= lots of noise over nothing!

Having said that, our benefits system does need some changes but the prospect of Bulgarians and Romanians arriving should not be the main reason for it. Whatever its exploitable weaknesses, they are already up for grabs by Brits and other permanently living foreigners anyway.

Pics or your full of it ;)

It was the second date, getting her to pose for a picture with a OcUK sign wouldn't really improve my chances would it ?

No, you just have my word for it, I don't care if you believe me or not.

For what its worth, we had a nice time at a new restaurant. I had lamb, she had duck and we shared a bottle of red. Shockingly, she's a sophisticated world citizen who has worked in China, Switzerland and the UK over the last few years. She's probably had a higher standard of education than many of the people on this thread.

They haven't done thus far. I know there are areas of segregation, but most groups which have been here for 10+ years are well integrated.

I would disagree with that.

For the record I have no problem with people self segregating in some respects, it is only natural, that does not negate however the problems it brings.

I disgaree with you disagreeing with me. I know there are pockets of communities that have integrated terribly, Asian and Pakistani communities in particular (in my experience) but I think it's very easy to overlook how many of these immigrants have integrated incredibly well. Even more recent immigrants. I live next door to loads of Eastern Europeans who each rent rooms in the house. They change around quite often, but they never fail to be friendly, polite, kind, helpful, and decent tenants. They work hard, often appalling hours (almost all being nurses) and raise very nice children.

In Dubai they drive foreign cars and shop in massive multinational companie, often buying goods that are made in other countries, Yet Dubai keeps all the foreign workers in camps because they don't want them wandering around. Cultural enrichment only goes one way it seems.
I didn't use the word "pure" so stop failing to associate me with white nationalism.
Multiculturalism is a benefit. bitslice, where the hell do you think our culture comes from???
From 1900 to 1990 our culture looked rather familiar, now it's annoying. Back then we had immigration by the boat, now it's in the millions, I'm sure you can see the difference.
