Active moderation has taken place. The issue is that not many of the posts break any rules, they just cause continual arguments. That in turn causes the negative atmosphere that is in this sub forum.

Funny isn't it, in the Wii U thread (home to Wii U owners/Nintendo enthusiasts) were under what is no exaggeration to say CONSTANT bombardment of trolling for best part of 8 months straight - until the summer last year I and some others started to do our best to deflect it. Eventually the only way to properly deflect it was to create a sales thread, that seemed to help. 8 months of trolling in that thread till that point.

Here's a question - where was the moderation during that 8 months of trolling?

Abuse of Wii U threads = no action, abuse of MS threads = world implodes.

If I missed anything in there I'll apologise for that. I have no interest in the Wii U so gave the thread a fairly wide berth.

Edit: Though I was only reappointed as a Don in the summer, so it might have gotten better at roughly the same time.

Good deal, don't turn this place into North Korea, just because the xbox fanboys do not like hearing the truth about their consoles.

Yes, in reflection I agree with you. Many of the guilty posters skirt on the right sides of the rules, on purpose, and avoid a suspension.

I can't suggest anything apart from just going with your gut and suspending people who stoke the flames, in the future. As someone else said, people will soon complain if it goes too far, but I think you know who the guilty parties are, on both sides.

There is no "truth". There is opinion, and there is fact. The issue is that we all know the facts, and everyone wants to drive their opinion home and call it truth.

That's probably the way forward. And yes, I definitely know who the worst offenders are, some of them are in this thread at the moment :)

You just don't give up, people chose the console they want, I personally chose the xb1 as my first purchase due to Titanfall and my friend base is xbox based. If I wanted, I could go and purchase a PS4 tomorrow but I don't need one as yet until an exclusive I want appears.
Constantly digging in with pointing out its a lesser powered console which we all know it is doesn't change the fact that people prefer it for various reasons. I'm with cu3ed on this that it reeks of some strange insecurity.

Any 5 games? Is that a generic deal or specific to your email address. I have 4 xbox 360's I will trade the slim in for that offer if I can. With my womens use of false economy it would feel like I was getting it for the price of a launch 360.
 
I think the quicker the hard core MS fans learn to accept they're playing second fiddle this time around, the easier it'll be for everyone. The Xbone is being universally panned all over the internet at the moment and will be for some time yet.

This generation is playing out in reverse to the last, the PS3 got absolutely & relentlessly trashed early on but eventually it all died down. Some would argue the PS3 turned out to be the better platform by the end of the last gen. All this talk of extra moderation for anything anti-Xbone is a little OTT, things will settle down... just give it some time.

Microsoft's terrible policies, shocking responses to the backlash, inferior spec console w/ a premium pricetag & forced non-essential accessory is going to draw some heat for a while to come.

All agreed. And I do accept that the XB1 to the right, will be playing second fiddle to my PS4 to the left.. Of my TV cabinet :)

The only playstation I have ever owned is the first one and that was because of F1 97 and Point Blank :)

At no time in my life have I ever been a multiplat owner, I have always bought one and been happy with my purchase :D

£279 is a no brainer for me, especially as the only exclusive I'm interested in is a MS one anyway. Gears.

I still believe the issue is more to do with some Sony fans to be honest. I don't think any Xbox One owner will sit and tell you they think the XB1 is going to be better than the PS4, yet some PS4 owners are far too happy to shout about how much better it is.

I do understand it to some extent. The PS3 did get a lot of flak in the past, and some Sony fans will be glad for the chance to give some back. I have no problems with that, as long as it stays good natured, much like a lot of football banter does. Just like some football banter though, people on both sides of the arguments will cross the line and go too far, and that's what I have issue with. Like I said though, I hope it will settle down in time.
